The house was grand in an understated kind of way. I'd seen this place before. When I was a kid my father would bring me here to tell me about the vampires that brought us to this land and to the way of life that we now lived.

It changed approximately fifty years ago, my father would be appalled to know that his beloved leader had been betrayed and murdered. We thought that the rule was left to no one considering that he'd never openly stated that he had children.

Security lined every single side of the property as well as a gatehouse that was manned by rather beefy guards. There was no way I was getting in undetected so I was going into the place in a way that was hopefully a smart way. I was going on a tour.

All that I had to pay was a donation to a charity. I could even pick which one I wanted from a list and dump my money into a box. Looking at the choices, I mulled it over for a few seconds and then put money into the orphanage. Why? Otanawa, I guess. She was an orphan now and it made me think of the other children that were just like her.

After a weapons check, I joined the group of people that were waiting to be given a guided tour. A sticker and pen were handed to me, I looked at the other people who were writing their first names on their stickers. Writing my fake name on the sticker, I slapped it to my chest and handed back the pen.

I kept in the middle of the group, my profile low and mostly unseen. There was no point in believing that I wouldn't be seen, we were entering the resting place of the leader. Every move that we made would be watched. It didn't matter to me, all I needed was for Nisha to see me and hopefully, let me talk to her. There was a high chance that she was angry at me which, I could understand. I was angry at me.

Walking up the front steps, I looked around and prayed that this worked. I couldn't keep coming here with the hope that I'd see her in the next visit. Like everyone else, I stepped into the lavish ballroom and pretended to be stunned at the opulence of the room. It was pretty but it wasn't my thing.

The tour guide regaled us with stories of the past and things that happened in rooms, all very fascinating if I was actually interested. One day, maybe but not today. As the group stopped in the throne room, I edged around the guy that was way too tall to be standing in the middle.

"We are extremely lucky tonight ladies and gentlemen; Her Highness will be joining us on the tour."

My heart quickened at the sound of a sultry click of a heel on the wood floor. I gulped hard as I looked at the gorgeous woman who smiled when she greeted the group. That was until she saw me, then she flustered.

Nisha regained composure and then guided us out of the room, answering questions that everyone desperately wanted to ask. I had questions too, none that could be asked or answered with these people around us. I also had a lot to say, not just the warning but the apology too. If I could take that night back, I would. The only problem was, if that happened, I wouldn't know about Lucius's plan to take down the leader and his family.

When we reached a grand hall, Nisha called for everyone to take a seat and for a few minutes, they'd get to watch a film history of the city. I held back, waiting for Nisha. She moved to the rear of the seats, then talked to the guy that was organizing the equipment. When he gave her a firm nod, Nisha moved to the doorway. With a flick of her head, I was beckoned to follow.

"What are you doing here?" She hissed, closing the door quickly.

"That's what you start off with?"

"Fine. How was the o club?"

"I am incredibly sorry about that."

Nisha rolled her eyes, folding her arms.
