2 Months Later...
Beyoncé's POV - 3:27 PM
"I'm confident that the jury coming to a verdict won't take long. Our argument was very solid, love." I tell Nicki as she sighs over the phone.
"It's going to be okay, baby. Don't worry about it. How about you get some rest? It's nearly four and you've been up since five in the morning, just pacing." I suggest.
She chuckles. "Good idea. I didn't even remember I was tired. Call me if anything."
"I will. Get some rest and try not to overthink it. I have a really good feeling about this." I say with a smile.
"Okay. I'll try. Bye, bubs." She says. "Bye, baby. Talk to you later." I say before hanging up and throwing my phone beside me.
Nicki is staying at her parents' house while the jury deliberates because we thought it would be best to not be seen together, not even to get into the same car, while the jury comes to a verdict. We already have Safaree's lawyer thinking we're sleeping together, we don't need anything or anyone else against us right now.
I also told Nicki about how Ali and Unique were the ones messing with her so it's a good idea she's staying with her parents' because of that as well. She told me she wanted something done about them, but she also said she didn't have the energy to deal with it so I've been dealing with it on my own. I mean, not completely on my own, I have had the help of my private investigator friend, Donovan.
Donovan and I have gathered evidence together on Ali and Unique made it way easier on us because for criminals, they're not very smart. They meet at the most obvious places and are crazy clumsy about everything they do.
It's insane that it's all came down to this, to me hiring a P.I. against Ali, but she did it to herself. Of course, I don't blame her for being jealous of me and Nicki or for me falling in love with Nicki, but all this behavior got way too out of hand that it was becoming scary for not only me, but for Nicki as well.
"So, how do you feel about this case, Bey?" Kelly asks me, snapping me out of my thoughts.
I sigh happily. "Really good, Kel. I'm still anxious for the verdict, though. People can be huge disappointments." I tell her while shaking my head.
She chuckles and grabs my hand over the kitchen island. "It'll be alright. Onika deserves that peace of mind and I feel like the universe will work it's magic."
I nod and smile as she caresses my hand.
I told Kelly about Nicki and I's situation not too long ago and I knew she would be supportive because she's never really been a big fan of Ali. She was honest with me though and said she wished I would've asked Ali for a divorce before doing all this mess, but she was happy that I was leaving that toxic relationship nonetheless.
"How is she? Is she stressed out of her mind?" She asks as she crosses her arms over her chest while looking at me.
I nod. "Yup. I told her to take a nap because she was up at five in the morning pacing the length of her bedroom. Poor baby can't catch a break."
She shakes her head. "It's really sad. Some people on earth are just dealt the worst cards of the deck. I admire her for being able to find the courage to keep getting out of bed everyday. Lord knows if that was me... I woulda gave up." She finishes.
"Anyway, you think the jury will take long to come to a verdict?" She asks.
I shrug. "I hope they don't. I mean, it's all right there. He's guilty. But if they're being difficult it could take days for them to decide and there's nothing we can do about it."
