I opened my eyes and saw that I was staring at a blank wall.
I look around me, scared of where I was and saw that behind me a few feet up was Ignis teetering on the edge of our rock ledge, surrounded by the glowing symbols.
"Hey!" I shout and his head snaps to me. Looking down as I'm now on a new ledge. How I got here, I have no idea.
"What the hell? I can't see you Carla! Come back up" Ignis shouts back. I roll my eyes.
"Can you read the symbols around you?"
"Yes, they are traditional Yaldvirian. Are you okay?"
"Ig, I'm fine, just read out what the symbols say"
He sighs and pulls back from the ledge, placing his axe down which caused a massive thud throughout the cavern.
I didn't even notice him picking it up. How long was I talking to that creature and being stuck in a strange dimension with water glass and secret mirrors?
"Within light there is dark, within dark there is light." He said.
I frowned.
"Is that it?"
"Yep. It's that on repeat." I shake my head and look down.
It was so dark I couldn't even see my feet.
There is light in the dark.
Hmm
Using all of my courage I turn back up to Ignis, my heart racing.
"I think I have to find the ledge and jump all the way down"
"What?! Are you mad?!" He said picking his axe up, he swung it over his shoulder and looked back down at the darkness below.
"Quite possibly." I shuffle forward slightly until my toes go over a pointed edge. I look up and see that Ignis could quite easily jump too.
"You need to jump. Trust me okay?" Ignis places his thumb and index finger to the bridge of his nose, cursing something I didn't know before jumping.
He lands on my ledge- just.
We both wobble a bit but nothing we couldn't handle.
"So we jump"
"Yes. There is light in the darkness. In my vision I was walking on water but was still able to go through it" I realise that I can only see his face and neck.
"This is super weird. All of this for a book on our history? We could've gone to the local library for that" Ignis starts, I could tell he wanted to go up.
"I don't think that history was real. It has too many holes in its story. Don't you think it's suspicious all these visions I'm having?"
"It's just the stone" he says with confusion.
"That's my point. The stone that is connecting me to the past. I need to know the true history in order to stop this army."
Ignis sighs and reaches his hand out, trying to find my shoulder.
He eventually does, but only after his hands smack onto my face and feel around for a moment or two.
"I trust you Carla. Let's jump into a pit of nothingness" I smiled at him and took his hands- well after fumbling around for them.
Without warning I jumped off the ledge, dragging Ignis with me.
It felt faster, colder, more quiet than I thought. I was scared, So was Ignis.
"Where is the bottom?" He says fearfully as the world above us shrinks so terribly small. I can see the Vohon Sokyra but it's faint glow was dimming by the second.
Not even his wine red hair which normally looked like it was sparking with ashes could be seen in this inevitable darkness.
I don't reply as the darkness is replaced by tiny, minuscule, beads of light.
The further we went down, the more light seemed to grow.
After about four minutes of falling I realise what is happening.
"It's taking us to the heart of Yaldvir"
"What? No it can't!" He says as the lights grow around us bigger.
The beads turn into golf balls, from golf balls into the size of basketballs.
We both close our eyes, finally able to see each other but fearful of what we have done.
I knew we had to stick it out.
I opened one eye and saw a bank of water below us.
"Ignis!" He opens his eyes as we near the water.
He looks at me before taking a deep breath.
We smacked into the water, still holding onto each other before opening our eyes again.
The water should've killed us, it was too much of a drop..
Ignis and I look to the bottom of the water floor and see a massive pair of golden doors.
We glance at each other before swimming as fast as we can to the bottom of the fresh water floor.
Ignis strapped his axe to his back.
Using our arms to keep us down in the water, Ignis swims over to the doors and struggles to open the two doors.
I swim over and silently order him to grab the door and I grabbed the other one.
I nodded and we tugged at the door, I was losing breath, it was becoming harder to breathe.
I had to get this door open!
We tugged on the doors once more and the opened, sucking us in.
The sudden pull of the door swung us and a few feet of water inside the doors.
We rolled across the floor of this strange room and gasped for air, water splayed around us but it was no deeper than the top of my toes.
I flick of the water on my heavy clothing and flip back my hair, regretting having it out.
I double check to make sure Ignis is there and he is doing the same, flicking water off himself and breathing heavily.
We both look forward and see a pedestal in front of us, it had the book of Yaldvir on it.
We run to the pedestal and Ignis flips the book open.
It was just like in my dream.
"The real Yaldvir history.." Ignis says.
There was a picture of a young queen and king, holding hands as two boys are levitating in spots of golden glow. It was a beautiful picture, orange flames flicked around the four people and Ignis touched the woman's face.
I quickly realised this is Queen Malika and their family.
We looked at each other in shock before flipping through a few more pages.
The next page was Salo shaking hands with a Yondir with a crown on.
Ignis looked at the Yaldvirian writing.
"Queen Wenda of the Yondir right before the attack of Yaldvir" he read.
I looked over his shoulder and skimmed through until I found the section I wanted.
"Read that" I say.
"The attack of Yaldvir was between the yin and yang crystals. Warrior Eve had the light stone whereas Yondir's first and only male Adam had the yin stone.
The two battle for the fate of Yaldvir and the universe, with Eve triumphing. Leaving only one problem.
When the Yondir vanished from the sight of the Yaldvirian watch, Eve was moved to earth for her own protection to which she died.
The stones weren't seen again until the dawn of the new age."
Ignis finished reading and looked at me confused.
"Dawn of the new age?" I ask.
We both start to flip through the book until we stumbled across a page that looked like the red sand planet with one half covered in black and the other half white.
"That's it. That's what I saw in my vision. Someone stole the black stone" I say pointing to the picture.
Ignis looks to the text.
"Ten thousand years later, Salo had stumbled across the new stone and hid it on a world. Over the next two thousand years, the stone split in two, making a new set of yin and yang. The balance restored"
"What else does it say?" I ask realising he stopped talking.
Ignis shook his head.
"That's it. That's the last page"
