"It's so hot!" Sarah's groaning prompts me to peel my eyes away from my paper and take in her devastated state, her one hand grips her chestnut locks while the other fans her face, the purpose behind it being that she wants to produce some type of fresh air in this overheated classroom
"That's w-why I suggested we sit b-by the w-windows" I say and glance towards one of the aging window sills, the latch unlocked and the frame pulled back towards us,letting the cool fall air in but yet not doing much, the complaints, and mewls of the students proving just that
"Of course, blame it all on me would ya" she teases while tying her hair up into a bun
"I didn't think it'd get this hot, I mean we are in October for god sakes who knew the air conditioning would all of a sudden break down on us" It's been 10 minutes since the last announcement been pronounced through the intercom, the deadpan toned message still imprinted in my memory
"Good morning teachers and students, we apologize for this interruption but unfortunately our AC is down for the moment, we are trying our best to get it up and ready but until further known keep your doors and windows open, thank you"
"I don't know how much longer I can take it!"
Sarah says, replacing what was once her hand fanning with a thin paper, winding herself as the tiny loose hairs that failed to be pulled back move to and fro, clearly impacted by the little wind she's receiving from her efforts"Well ma-maybe if we do l-less talking, it'd be le-less hot" squinting her eyes, she sneers at me before leaning her head back loosely, her eyes casted up towards the roof of the room
"Come on, we have to fi-finish this before cl-class e-ends" My eyes scan over our assigned sheet, questions after questions appearing one after the other, the large text book being the source that consist of our answers only that you'll have to think deep, for the teacher believes we're too old to plainly receive them with one look at the old, worn out pages
"And we will, just give me a second, I can't think in this heat" She reply's before gulping down half of her water bottle, rolling my eyes I continue to read along the lines, trying to find any form of context clues for question number 5
"For most of history, where did the Mongols live?"
Flaring my nose, A dry, burning feeling is found within it, irritating by the second and a clear effect yet again, proving that it is indeed hot in here
"You know....." shifting my attention towards Sarah who sits beside me, I wait for what she has to say, most likely something that doesn't contribute to the assignment what so ever
"You never told me how your date went" rolling my eyes, I go back to reading the text book, completely ignoring her
"Oh come on, I need to at least find something to entertain me in this hot ass room"
"Yeah, th-this.." I press my finger onto question number 5 on her sheet
"i-is your entertainment" smacking her teeth , she for once complies and grabs onto her pencil before gazing down at her text book, but her obedience wears out in a matter of minutes
"I can't find it"
"You j-just started l-looking"
