Sixteen
"Can we please go to the park, please please please," Ethan's excitement's palpable as he jumps up and down in front of Phoebe. They had spent the morning cooped up at her house and it's about time that they got some fresh air.
Sebastian and Jasmine called in earlier this morning with their two very energetic sons in tow to visit Eleanor and Steve. Phoebe hadn't seen her brother, his wife, and their beautiful sons since dinner the other week and she had missed them so much. So she was more than excited when she was placed in charge of looking after the two younger mischief makers.
They hadn't even left the house yet when Ethan and Ryan began running circles around her, almost driving her to the brink of insanity wondering how they had so much energy.
"Are you ready yet? Can we go now?" Ryan asks, his eyebrows raised and eyes alight with enthusiasm. Phoebe can't help but smile to herself, these two boys are so similar it isn't even funny. They're both the perfect combination of their parents.
"Almost, give me a sec to get my shoes, yeah?" Phoebe comments as she quickly runs to her room, pulling on her shoes and unplugging her phone from the charger.
"Okay, okay, I'm ready," Phoebe clutches her chest as if to calm down her rapid heartbeats, "Mum, Dad, I'm taking the kids to the park."
Phoebe's met with the warm smiles and nods of her parents and the boys' parent's as she latches onto their tiny hands and walks them out the door and into the beautiful sun.
...
"Phoebe! Phoebe! Watch this!" Ethan cries out as he runs across the empty playground and over to the swing, "Look how high I can swing!"
Phoebe grins to herself as she watches her nephews with joy plastered all over their faces. It's been way too long since Phoebe's spent quality time like this with the boys and it was fair to say that she has missed them like crazy.
It's a beautiful day, not a cloud in the sky and the cries of laughter that fill the air would've been enough to easy worry had she had any. She may not get to see these boys as often as she likes but they were everything good in her world.
"Who are they? Are they..." a voice asks from behind her, leaving Phoebe to turn her head around quickly.
Maddison is standing there, one headphone in as she looks at Phoebe with an almost judgemental stare. What happened to the nice and friendly Maddison from the other week? So, with Maddison's judgemental stare in mind, Phoebe feels no qualms with ignoring her.
