"I'm not sure about this Asher, it's already been a couple of weeks," Asher's boss trailed off on the other end of the line and if Asher couldn't persuade her then he was in trouble.
"Ms. Wilson, I just need a few more weeks. I can work from home, I have everything I need and I can promise you that when I get back you'll have three new songs," he knew it was a big promise to make when he could barely keep his mind on the one track for more than five minutes but he'd have to make it work somehow. If he had to lock himself in the house, he would.
"I suppose I can give you three weeks, but I want chart toppers. You hear me, Asher?"
"Yes, three weeks and three amazing songs. Thank you so much, Ms. Wilson, I appreciate this very much," Asher was elated, he had so much unfinished business in this town now, all thanks to the brunette who buried herself back into his life by giving him a slither of hope.
Asher hung up the phone and walked out of his room and down the stairs for breakfast. Reece and Paisley were here this morning for breakfast and brought Mia and James, their children, with them too. Asher hadn't seen them in years, the last time he saw them, James was just a newborn and Mia was only two. It'd been way too long ago.
As he stepped off the final stair and into the kitchen, he saw all except Mia and James gathered around the kitchen bench.
"Hey, how are you doing?" Reece greeted, ruffling his hair, as Asher stood next to him in front of the kitchen counter.
"I've been better, but I'm okay I guess," Asher never needed to hide his feelings from Reece, he was his best friend's brother before he was his brother- in-law after all.
"Breakfast is ready," Asher's dad, Alex, states as he walks with the plates of food over to the dining table. The seats around the table fill and Mia and James run across the room in order to get the 'best seats.'
"I want to sit next to Ashy," Mia says and she climbs up into a seat and points for Asher to sit in the vacant one next to her. And since he can never say no to his niece, he obliges.
"How are you, Mia? You have gotten so big," Asher comments in wonder.
"I'm good, daddy said that we could have pancakes for breakfast."
