"Steve, honey, do you really think I would've said yes if I wasn't capable –" Phoebe's mother, Eleanor whispered as she sat comfortably on the living room couch with her Husband, Steve.

"Well of course not, Love, I just don't want to see you stress over the larger workload," Steve whispered back. He inched closer to his wife, placing his larger hand over her smaller one.

As they continue their conversation in whispered, they almost didn't notice Phoebe walking into the room. She'd clearly just stumbled out of bed late this morning. It was nearly one in the afternoon but they couldn't blame her for needing the extra sleep, she'd had exhausting few weeks. And although it was late in the day, Steve and Eleanor hadn't expected anything different. Ever since she was young, Phoebe had always rolled out of bed later than considered acceptable. She had always told them that she was "enjoying the sleep in before she had to wake up early for school every single day for weeks on end." But although it was an old habit, she had grown out of it in the past few years. Phoebe woke up at more reasonable times and the fact that she has fallen back into her older, more childish, habits says a lot about her right now. She isn't okay. She isn't fine. She's hurting. Not that she'd ever admit that to her parents when she chose to chase after Asher, she chose to take that risk. These were consequences of her own actions and she felt like she just had to deal with them. And if she had to retreat back into herself then she guessed she had deserved it for the heartbreak she had caused Riley

Phoebe minded her business and walking into the adjoining kitchen to find something to eat. Steve gave a light laugh as he asked, "So, breakfast or lunch?"

Phoebe rolled her eyes and continued to scour the cupboards for food. He always made the same joke. Since she woke up late he would always ask if she was starting with breakfast or lunch.

"Obviously breakfast. It's the most important meal of the day. I can't miss it," she replied with little enthusiasm and a growing hunger in the pit of her stomach. She wondered why she couldn't just get food in the peace and quiet.

"Honey, I think you already have."

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever," she finished before turning her attention back to the food and pulled out some eggs. She sighed and put on her best 'helpless' face.

"Hey dad," she drawled and Steve instantly knew he'd end up making her breakfast by the time the conversation was done.

"Yes, honey?"
