"WHAT?!" Poe yelled, making Rey jump. She just revealed that Kylo Ren was Leia's son. "Are you out of your mind, Rey?! He could be coming just to kill you! What in the hell would make you think he would surrender like this?! You've put the entire Resistance in danger!" he shouted at the top of his voice, which was actually fine with Rey since she closed the door to the office leaving the two of them alone.

He strode over to her in a fury preparing to scold her again, when she suddenly got up and walked over to the bigger floor to ceiling windows. Poe stopped in his tracks, not wanting to push his luck against a Jedi. Looking out on the base, clouds had formed and it started to rain softly. Rey tilted her head, thinking of what Ben would say, should she tell Poe of their connection. Crossing her arms, she finally turned to face him.

"Whatever I tell you now is not to leave this room under any circumstances, do you hear me?" Rey's eyes were burning with seriousness, so much so that Poe huffed and threw his arms in the air.

"Fine! As long as you tell me what the hell is going on, and everything about this...Ben," he said very hesitantly, seeing as this name and information was very foreign to him. Rey took a deep breath and repeated everything she told Leia to Poe.

When she finished, she was sitting on an armchair and he was leaning on the window. Furrowing his brows, he asked without looking at her, "Are you sure he's not manipulating you to feel this...sympathetic?" Rey immediately answered.

"No, my feelings are my own," she stated with certainty. Standing again, she moved towards Poe and placed a gentle hand on his back. "His feelings are his own as well," she whispered. "He's leaving by his own will, surely this is a good thing for the Resistance. The information he provides could win the war for us." Poe sighed and straightened up. His eyes and heart were heavy, his usually proud and confident demeanor was full of sadness and pain. Turning to Rey, he placed a hand on her shoulder.

"If he does one thing out of line, I won't hesitate to throw him in prison, you hear me?" he said, deadly serious. Rey nodded, holding back tears. Seeing Poe so uninspired was heartbreaking. She pulled him into a comforting hug and he cried on her shoulder. Rey let him, knowing Ben would be in the same state when he arrived that night.

They parted ways after that and Poe called a meeting of the entire Resistance. When everyone arrived, Dax found Rey near the back and tried to sneak up to speak to her, but was caught by another officer. He scowled and slumped in his seat, knowing what Hux would do if he failed.

Meanwhile, Poe explained to everyone that Leia's funeral would be in two days and that he'd be taking her place. They were given relief from their duties until the funeral was over. Rey was the first to leave, walking swiftly not to her quarters, but to the shed in the woods. It was a little past sunset, so she turned on the lanterns and candles. To make matters more depressing, the rain was coming down in sheets when she arrived at the one-room building. It was just a matter of waiting for Ben now. Rey took her armbands and vest off, laying them over a small table and opened the wardrobe, grabbing a spare blanket. She was exhausted and mentally numb, so a nap was in order. She laid down on the bed, dreaming of Ben.

She didn't know how much time passed, only that it was still raining when she felt him enter the atmosphere. She sat up, her hair unruly with fly-aways everywhere. Her face was swollen and flushed from crying and just waking up. Pad 17 was dead ahead from the shed, so she used the blanket as a cloak. Wrapping it tightly around herself, she braced before running out in the moderate downpour. There was a small post near the pad that had an awning so she stopped there, looking up to see the shuttle land.

Rey felt a small smile creep onto her face. It was a stolen transport from a planet they visited when recruiting called Hitun. He must've used it to avoid suspicion when landing in their base, should someone notice. She doubted anyone would see them since it was late at night, or early in the morning, she thought to herself. No one would be up on a night like this. Except Rey.

The shuttle door opened and a hooded figure stepped out, hesitating after seeing the rain. Ben looked to see Rey waiting for him under a meager station roof. The lights of the ships door cast a yellow white glow on her wet face. She had a nervous look on her face, but she was glad to see him, he could practically touch the happy aura surrounding her. It was like a tonic to his exhausted soul.

Rey noticed his face was paler than normal, even the scar she gave him looked less pronounced. He was dressed in a plain dark grey shirt with his uniform pants and boots. A black hooded cloak hid his messy hair, and he was holding a medium sized bag in his right hand.

For a moment, they simply looked at one another. The last time they saw each other in person, the lightsaber was ripped apart. It almost felt like the anger they experienced in that moment never happened.

Suddenly, Rey and Ben moved at the same time, running to each other. Ben dropped his bag on the open door of the shuttle and immediately wrapped his arms around Rey, spinning while she giggled into his neck. The rain was still falling and it was cold, but that didn't really matter to them. Ben put her down and pulled apart the slightest bit to behold her in the moonlight. Every individual eyelash of hers was covered in raindrops and she seemed to outshine the brightest star in the sky.

Ben was smiling, really smiling down at Rey. His hair was soaked and his bag of clothes was forgotten. They both laughed at the sight of the other, soaked to the bone and happy. Rey couldn't keep her eyes off of his lips, and Ben noticed. He removed a hand from her waist and placed it on the back of her neck. Her heart rate seemed to double and the Force signature around them was humming. Ben started leaning down and Rey tilted her head up to meet him, closing her eyes.

Rey's lips were unimaginably soft and her shaky breathing made Ben's heart flip over. He suddenly couldn't imagine living without her and they both seemed to tighten their grip on the other, never wanting the moment to end.

Rey pulled away first, leaning her forehead against Ben's with the both of them breathing heavily. They made eye contact and suddenly laughed because in spite of everything; the rain, cold air and illegality of it all...

They found each other.
