18. His person is Teddy. Her person is Mer.

"You excited?"

"No."

"Not even a little bit?"

"No."

"Seriously?"

"Seriously."

Meredith glared at Cristina, slapping her best friend on the arm. "I just got on a plane!"

"You get on planes all the time!" She cried, passing the tequila to her. "You just like to think that you have plane PTSD so people feel sorry for you."

"Well you pretend not to have PTSD so people think you're all strong and stuff." Meredith snapped back. The girl's blue eyes shine half with sass, half with truth.

"Hey, I provided us with first class and tequila." She pointed out.

That was true. Meredith never complained when there was tequila. However, she was still anxious around planes no matter how long or short they were.

"Oh will you guys stop the bickering! I can hear you guys from my pod away!" Cried Jackson, who poked his head from the pod in front of them. The head of plastics grinned although his words were harsh. Of course he'd smile as they were both his friends, and he wasn't really having the best time at the moment.

"Hey you were the one who refused your private jet so you could see how it was like being a commoner for once." They both snapped at the same time. She reached her hand out to Cristina for a high-five, which was met with a crisp slap.

"Tequila?" Meredith offered politely.

"Of course."

Jackson tilted his paper cup towards her and she poured some in, cheering as he downed it in one shot. "God we're going to be hungover until the day of the awards."

"Agreed."

"Cristina isn't excited."

"You weren't excited until the day you actually won." He pointed out. Most people had been seated already, and even just first class with friends was so much better than a whole private jet to a couple people.

"Fair enough."

"Cristina is going to win." Replied Jackson, who waved a flight attendant over to hand him something to eat.

"Also agreed."

Cristina rolled her eyes and tapped the edge of her pod restlessly, thinking back to how far she had come since her first day of internship. So many people had died, left, or made an impact on her life. For a while she felt lost in Zurich, like she had nothing to aim for anymore. It was like she couldn't find a breakthrough no matter hard she tried.

However, that feeling just all went away as she sat on the plane, trying extremely hard not to get her hopes up like last time. Actually, she thought she had got her hopes up for nothing, however, she really did win. It was crazy how badly she wanted that award in her hand, the recognition, and the pride of knowing that she had achieved the things she worked for.
