[21]

It wasn't long before my five senses came back to my body. Una kong naramdaman na nakahiga ako sa kama, sunod ang mga bagay na nakakabit sa akin. Sa sobrang pagkabihasa sa mga ito, tinamad na akong alamin kung bakit sila nasa katawan ko.

Sunod ay ang mainit na kamay na nakasalikop sa akin. Unti-unti kong binuksan ang mga mata ko at inalam kung sino ang nangahas na hawakan ako.

Ah. Si Sky pala. Napangiti ako.

Nasasanay na ako na siya ang una kong nakikita paggising. And it's not bad. It actually makes me happy.

I opened my mouth to say something, but the mask prevented me so I lifted my other hand to remove it. Ayokong langhapin ang oxygen na galing sa tanke.

But then I realized that there's a pain on the side of my chest. It kinda hurt when I took a deep breath.

Sky must have felt the movement because he suddenly looked alive. His forehead was leaning on the bed anyway.

"Thank heavens you woke up." He smiled and kissed the back of my hand. I blushed.

"How long was I out?" Ang gaspang ng lalamunan ko. Lumunok ako nang ilang beses. "And Voxen?"

"Sixteen hours." His face was grim as he sets the bed and me in a sitting position. "You were hit on your side when the window broke in pieces. Kinailangan nilang tahiin ang tagiliran mo. Sa kabilang kwarto naka-confine si Voxen. Kakagaling lang niya sa operating room. They removed four bullets from his body and stitched the side of his head. He's stable now so you don't have to worry."

I closed my eyes to calm myself from impending anger. "Four bullets. They dared to do that in a public road. I was too preoccupied that I didn't sense someone following us."

"He was an assassin under Ace Olsen's group. He was a rogue."

I sighed. Gumaganti siya dahil nasa puder ko ang boss niya. Hindi ba niya naisip na kahit patayin pa niya ako, hindi babalik sa kanila si Ace?

"That idiot." I muttered. "Did he fucking not know that I was protecting that Everest car all my life? Should I just throw him in front of Spade to end his useless life?"

I waited for his response and when he finally cracked a smile, I giggled. Ano'ng magagawa ko? Nakakahawa ang facial expressions ng boyfriend ko.

"Silly woman. Mas inalala mo pa ang kotse kaysa sa inyong dalawa ni Voxen?"

Ngumuso ako sa inis. "That car was a Gorthel property even before I was born. It was the first remodeled bulletproof and armored car that ZTG created. It was supposed to crash from a car chase or fall off a cliff. Not in an old, dirty center island."

This time, tumawa na siya. "'Wag kang mag-alala, maibabalik pa raw sa dati ang sasakyan. Pinadala ko na sa main headquarters at siguro inaayos na nila iyon ngayon."

Ngumiti ako at pinatong ang isang kamay sa kanya. "Thank you. And sorry… for worrying you."

Umiling siya at tinignan ang magkakasama naming kamay. "Alam kong malakas ang girlfriend ko. Kaya naghintay lang ako sa tabi mo hanggang sa magising ka."

"Don't tell me you didn't eat anything yet, boyfriend?"

Medyo gusot ang polo niya at wala sa ayos ang buhok. Nakalagay din sa tabi ang mga gamit niya na dapat nasa bulsa niya.

Napakamot siya sa batok. "Bibili na lang ako ng makakain natin." He stood and hovered over me. "I'll be right back."

"O-Okay." I can't help myself blushing! Nang hindi siya kaagad lumayo, tinitigan ko siya sa mga mata. "Sky?"
