I sat on Ashton's lap with Calum by my side holding my hand and Luke making me some hot chocolate, even though it was the middle of summer. We sat in the lounge. No words were spoken. Calum winked at Ashton and Luke came out of no where and began to play a guitar riff.
"You call me up." Luke sang "It's like a broken record. Saying that your heart hurts. And you'll never get over him getting over you."
I began to smile. This in no way was helping me get over Michael, but it comforted me.
At the third verse Luke stopped playing the guitar and everything went silent. Ashton began to sing.
"I know someday it's gonna happen. And you'll finally forget the day you met him. Sometimes I'm so close to confession. I gotta get it through your head, that you belong with me instead." he smiled.
They didn't finish the song after that. We all just sat there, absorbing the lyrics. Ashton didn't take his eyes off me. I lifted his shirt up. I saw that he continued to draw over the anchor, never letting it fade. I lifted up my own shirt, and it was just barely there. I leaned over to Ashton and started to whisper.
"Wanna make these permanent?" Ash nodded.
"Now?" Calum asked, eavesdropping as always.
"Why not? What are we waiting for?" I asked
"Umm, your boyfriend." Calum answered. Luked swatted his shoulder.
"Calum's right. You guys haven't broken up yet." Ashton said.
"Well, he doesn't have to know." I replied.
"Don't you think he'll find out eventually? You turn eighteen in December.." Ashton stated.
"I already know." Michael interrupted, standing in the doorway.
"Michael!" I screamed, running towards him. I squeezed him tightly, but he squeezed back half-heartedly. I looked back at Ashton and I could see the disappointment in his face.
"You were going to get a tattoo with Ashton?" he tried to stay calm.
"Nothing romantic, just-" I started.
"WHAT IS NOT ROMANTIC ABOUT GETTING MATCHING TATTOOS?!" he snapped. Ashton, Calum, and Luke began walking out. "You." he pointed to Ashton, "Stay."
"Michael, he didn't want to get them anyway. Why are you getting so jealous?" I asked.
"Did you just say I'm jealous? I am not jealous. I am furious that I turn around for a minute and you are making out with some creep." he said.
"I WASN'T MAKING OUT WITH HIM. HE KISSED ME, AND WOULDN'T LET ME GO." I screamed back at him. I started to cry again. "Why don't you believe me?" I asked.
"I WOULD BELIEVE YOU IF WHEN I CAME HOME YOU AREN'T MAKING PLANS FOR A DATE WITH MY BANDMATE." he yelled.
"It's not a date! I am trying to keep him strong." I said.
"He is a big boy. He can take care of himself." he replied.
"There is nothing wrong with helping someone." I argued.
"YOU'RE NOT HELPING. YOU ARE FLIRTING." he scolded.
"Michael, look me in the eyes and tell me why you don't fucking trust me." I said. Michael looked me in the eyes. I knew his eyes. His eyes are full of passion and love. The eyes he had weren't his eyes. His eyes were full of hatred and disgust.
"You're there for Ashton more than you are for me." he began to cry.
"Michael, Honey, I'm here for you no matter what. Don't ever say I'm not here for you because I am." I said, embracing him.
"I'm sorry, Carter. I love you so much and I don't want to lose you." he whispered.
"Michael, you didn't trust me when I told the truth."
"I kno-"
"I think we need to take a break." I said to him.
"No Carter, don't say that. I love you so much, please don't say that." he began sobbing.
"I love you too, but we both need this break okay?" I said. Ashton was akwardly standing there, trying not to cry too.
"I love you." he whispered. It came out shaky from his crying.
"I know." I said.
