I watched Phil clock out from a few aisles away, laughing softly to myself as I caught a glimpse of him trying to tell his supervisor what he had done that was useful to the store today, most of them lies that he had spun ages ago and yet still used repeatedly. He was flushing and whenever there was a gap between one winded lie that had been stranded out of the top of his head from another, he'd say 'um...' and one hand would ruffle the back of his hair.
I heard a sigh. "Go on, off you go. But this is your last chance, Phil. I mean it."
Getting bored of pretending to look at birthday cards while I waited for Phil, I glanced up at the two of them, accidentally catching the eye of his supervisor, who raised his eyebrow and then looked back at Phil.
Phil, who naturally wasn't able to help any situation he was put in, turned to me grinning, his blush getting deeper. "Umm... I'm with him."
Rolling his eyes more dramatically than what was needed, he says, "I don't care. Off with you both!"
Phil wasted no time in taking my hand and shouting his goodbyes to Lawerence who, when I looked behind my shoulder, was fighting a smile that leaked at the corners of his lips.
-
"Phil," pulling his hand that had stayed entwined with mine ever since we left his work. "There's no rush, calm down."
"I know, I know," He replies. My effort trying to catch his attention works though and he slows down, but only slightly. Still, it makes all the difference.
"Where are we even going?"
"My house! I need to get out of these gross clothes and into something else before we do anything."
"Ahh. Then what?"
"I haven't thought that far yet. There!" His free hand points a block of flats. "I should probably tell you now that I live alone."
"Oh."
"You're suprised."
"Yeah. Well, no. I mean, you did tell me that you lived with your parents when we first met."
"I know. Sorry. I just didn't want to delve straight into the family stuff just yet."
I murmur something like 'mmm' in response, not really sure what to say.
My mind isn't interested in the topic and instead wanders off, trying to fit together what his place would be like.
I'm somewhat nervous, since this will be the first time where we can shut the door behind us and be alone. The thought sends chills down my spine and makes my stomach twist and suddenly things I didn't know I desired yet start to play in my mind.
Phil pressed against me, his heavy pants tainting my lips. He takes off his shirt, dropping it onto the floor next to us and his fingers cling onto my hair, pulling on the strands. I guide his head back towards me so I can taste his mouth again and once I've felt his tongue slipping into mine I let him take control of the kiss and slide my hands down his sides until my fingertips are going across his stomach...
"Dan? Are you listening?"
Fully-clothed present Phil snaps me back to reality, a look on his face I can't read. My entire face heats up. If only he knew what I was imagining, oh god.
"No. I mean, what? Sorry, what did you say?"
Phil pulls me to the side of the pavement and stops, frowning.
"What's that look for? Why are you frowning?" I ask.
"You're upset with me that I lied to you."
