Everyone began speed walking to the cafeteria, where the snacks were being handed out. Although they may just be something as simple as crackers or fruit, it had been at least 5 hours since they last ate. Every step Ramon took was followed with a loud thud, his high heels were a bit uncomfortable but he walked like he was a real woman.
"Wait, does this make me a trap or transgender? Or both?" Ramon asked, turning around and walking backward.
"Ummn, uh, I actually... don't know," Cass answered, while everyone else took a second to think about it. Ramon turned around once more, making him face forward, the cafeteria was close. Kanna's stomach grumbled, she looked down and rubbed her stomach. Everyone heard, they tried going faster so that Kanna could have time to eat. The cafeteria was only a few steps away, but suddenly, Mrs. Water, the ASL teacher came out of her classroom.
"Mrs. Del Mar!" she saw Ramon and called out for her. Ramon looked back and smiled, trying not to be rude.
"Mrs. Water!" Ramon shouted, walking towards Mrs. Water and hugged her.
"What are you doing after school on a Friday, Selena?" Mrs. Water asked Ramon.
"Oh, I was just tutoring some of my students, right now we're headed to go get snacks," Ramon answered, politely, smiling, trying not to make it obvious that he wasn't the real Mrs. Del Mar. It felt like this conversation was going to go on forever, and every attempt that Ramon made to escape this endless conversation didn't work. It wasn't until he realized that there were only 5 minutes left of snack time. Ramon, naturally, signaled the rest to go and get their snacks and get back over to where he was at once they're done. Maybe, just maybe, Mrs. Water would realize that Ramon had places to be. Cass, Travis, Kaili, Kanna, and Lucas went to go get their snacks, but on the way back, they, too, got distracted by their two friends, Veronica and Connor.
After three whole minutes, Mrs. Water finally left, Ramon was so relieved, he thought he'd never get out of that conversation.
Ramon walked over to the rest of the group and saw Connor and waved at him, "Hey Connor!" Ramon shouted from a distance.
"Is that that Mrs. Del Mar?" Connor asked the group, pointing at Ramon with his thumb.
"Actually-" Cass said, before being rudely interrupted by Travis.
"Shut up, I wanna see how this plays out," Travis explained for covering Cass' mouth. Travis nodded at Connor, answering his question. Ramon walked over to Connor, but since Connor thought it was the real Mrs. Del Mar, he gave Ramon a hug. In confusion, Ramon hugged Connor back, his face was in Ramon's chest area. When Ramon let go, Connor took a while to let go, which was very uncomfortable for Ramon. When Connor finally let go, his face was all red.
"Just thought I'd tell you that Ramon's dressed up as Mrs. Del Mar," Cass whispered in Veronica's ear. Veronica began laughing, Connor walked back with Veronica and waved goodbye to everyone. Ramon mouthed an "Okay, weirdo", Ramon began walking, the rest followed after saying goodbye to Connor and Veronica. Connor and Veronica began walking back to their rightful groups.
On their way back to their groups, Connor asked Veronica, "You think Mrs. Del Mar would be down to fuck?"
Veronica began laughing once more, and told Connor, "Connor, that was Ramon dressed up as Mrs. Del Mar."
Connor looked at Veronica, and said, "No, no way. They look so similar then."
"I know," Veronica said, bantering with Connor, "I think that makes you gay, Connor."
Connor squinted at Veronica, "Please don't tell anyone."
Again, Ramon's high heels made thuds on the way back to the classroom. Who knew what Ramon was thinking about but you could tell just by the look on his face that he wanted to cry. Was it the flashbacks he would get of a certain someone or was it because of a song he had heard earlier?
He began whispering lyrics to himself, "Don't wanna give my heart away... to another stranger... won't let another day begin... won't let the sunlight in...oh I'll never love again... never love again... oh, I'll never... love again."
That was what he was thinking of, the lyrics, the lyrics to a certain song. Kaili went up to Ramon after she heard those words come out of his mouth, she rubbed his back and mouthed an "It's okay". They finally got back to the classroom, where they finished eating their snacks. Ramon went into the nearest bathroom, where he changed and cleaned off the makeup on his face and neck. He came out of the bathroom and into the classroom. Kaili was waiting for him in a chair, so he walked over towards her and sat next to her.
"Do you miss her?" Kaili asked.
"I... I-... I don't know." Ramon responded.
The bell rang, this meant that snack time in the cafeteria was over. There was now only 30 minutes of the after-school left.
