CHAPTER 30: The Rain Storm.

"Let the rain kiss you,
Let the rain beat down upon your head
With silver liquid drops,
Let the rain sing you
A Lullaby"

Bangkok was drenched in rain. The plants shimmered bright and the sky was groomed black. Soft winds brushed through the wet Eastern Campus as students scurried around to finish their tasks. Classes had been canceled due to the pouring rain and warnings of a storm were in place.
IUST had issued a circular for all students to stay indoors and that lectures would continue upon further notice. Of course this meant free time. It also meant flash flooding everywhere. The students had returned from their Chiang Mai trip, thankfully.
"A rain storm?"
"It rains two months out of twelve and this is what it does" muttered Daw, sitting on the couch of her room. The girls were in Daw's room when they got the emails.
"Did you read the IUST bulletin board?" asked Kanak, scrolling through her iPhone and the girls shrugged. Ayaka was seated at the couch, her legs curled under her as she read her latest book, Rage of Angels by Sidney Sheldon. Asteria was beside her, curled under the warm blanket watching a drama called Memories of Alhambra on Netflix. Kanak was pacing around the room in her sweats and cardigan, going through Facebook on her phone. Indah was standing beside Daw as the two read the news circular.
"Good thing classes got canceled" said Kanak, finally taking a seat on the bed. Ayaka looked up from her book and smiled at the girls.
"We seriously need to start considering global warming now" she commented and the other girls nodded. Of course. Global Warming.
"Should we check how the boys are doing?" asked Kanak, sitting up on the bed she was lying on.
"Sure"
Indah smiled slightly. She knew how her boyfriend was doing. They barely had food but seven eleven had to do for now since the markets and basically everything else is closed due to flooding.
Daw heaved a sigh and checked her phone to see a message from Aqua. She knew she had to tell these girls soon. But how soon?
"Guys, we should hang out together" said Asteria suddenly, smirking.
"Sure. I don't mind"
"Call them up then!"

"Dude. Stop. Panicking." Kwan told Ahren for the nth time. Ahren had never been through a rain/ thunder storm in his life so this was a first and he was panicking.
"You sure Kwan? What if our roofs are blown away and we become homeless?" he asked, biting on the insides of his cheeks.
"We are on the fourth floor. Everything around us is concrete" said Kwan slowly, as if explaining to a 2 year old.
"You sure about that?"
"Yes! For the love of everything holy Ahren!" said Kwan and the other boys sniffled a laugh. Before Ahren could say anything back, his phone rang. He picked it up to see Kanak calling him.
