Familiar

My uncle gave my four weeks to pick a wife, right, four damn weeks. Youd think that I was picking a new pair of shoes the way he's acting. I mean I know he said we were crunched for time but if he wanted to make the shit seem believable, he could have given me more than a month to do this shit.

"Why you still here?" a familiar voice asked. I looked up and my uncle was standing in the door of my office looking at me like I was crazy.

"What?" he asked

"You supposed to be on a date right now nigga," he replied.

"Oh shit," I rolled my eyes and got up from my desk. I gave Ms. Jones the day off thinking that I didn't have anything important going on today.

My uncle rolled his eyes and walked away from the door. I got up and grabbed my stuff before I got up and made my way out to my car. This is what I get for letting everyone have the same day off. When I made it to the restaurant my date was sitting there with a tablet full of food.

"Uh, -"

"Hannah," she said. "You can sit down,"

She kept her arms folded tight over her chest as she watched me sit down in the chair across the table. So, I didn't make a good first impression. I honestly don't give a shit either way, but if the purpose of this date was to get her to like me then I failed. I tried talking to her, and all of her answers were short and I could feel the attitude radiating off of her. She'd already ordered food so all I had to do was sit down and eat what she had ordered.

"So, do you work?" I asked her.

"No," she replied with a shrug. "I don't have to."

"Oh okay," I replied. Great she's a brat.

"You got money, right?" she said. "Your uncle told me you have money."

"Well, I have as much as he does," I replied.

She shrugged. "So, I shouldn't have to work."

"Well, we aren't gonna be-" I stopped. It just dawned on me that I have no idea how much she knows about what's going on.

"So, uh, you in school or something?" I asked.

"No," she replied matter-of-factly with another shrug. "Look my parents are rich, I never worked a job and I don't plan on it. If that's something you're interested in then we can talk, if not then we can finish eating and go our own way."

I swallowed the mouthful of food that I had been chewing on and nodded. "Well, that was straight forward," I said to him.

"we'll all this shit is arranged right," she said. "I don't see a reason to spend a bunch of time with formalities."

"Right," I replied.

We finished eating and then I offered to walk her to her car. She told me no, and picked up her to go box and walked out of the restaurant.

When I got back home my uncle and set was waiting for me on the sofa in my living room. "How was it?" my uncle asked.

"Where the hell did you get that girl from?" I asked him.

"I used to mess with her sister." he replied.

I sucked in a deep breath and sat down on the nearest seat. This man is really losing his mind. "What was her sister like?" I asked him. "Just curious."
