I was sitting at my desk minding my business when my office door was thrown open from the other side. I took a deep breath and rolled my eyes because I knew what was coming next. My dad was about to stomp through that door and complain that the job that he asked for is too much work.
"Daughter, this is too much." he parked his cart in the hallway because he couldn't fit it through the door.
"what now dad?" I asked him.
"i know this is supposed to be my job and al-"
"dad, in order for you to get paid you gotta work. You not just going to be here getting money to sit around. You could have done that at home."
"you two much sit in bed at night and rehearse ways to make me miserable." he grumbled.
"dad, you asked for this job-"
"i didn't ask to be a janitor, and then I'm not even the head janitor." he said.
"you can't be a supervisor with no experience."
"i could have been anything in this office. All he had to do was give me the job."
"he's not gonna give you a job that you don't deserve just because you asked for it. You gotta work just like everyone else." I folded my arm over my chest and sat back in my seat.
"have I ever told you that you look like your mother when you do that?" he asked me.
"yeah, I could times." I replied.
"she used to make me sick when she did that shit,"
"did what?" I asked him.
"told me better than I knew." he got up from the chair he had flopped in and went back to his cart. "I'm not cleaning toilets."
"yeah, your supervisor told me." I told him.
He closed my door and I heard him pushing the cart down the hallway.
"your dad is so cute." I looked over at saweetie.
"if by cute you mean annoying, then yes he's really cute." I said to her. She laughed and went back to her work on her computer. She always enjoyed when my father came in here and made a big fuss about things that were well within the scope of his job. He didn't want to take out trash, clean toilets, or do anything really. He would vacuum and push the cart around and I even heard that he was paying some of the other guys to do his work for him and that sounds just like something he would do.
There was a knock on the door before it opened again. I looked up and kirsnick stood there leaned against the frame of the door. "Yall ready to go eat!?" quavo asked as pushed kirsnick out of the door so that he could stand there.
"you know, you don't have to holler all the time." I said to him.
"i wasn't," he said.
"that's his normal volume," saweetie said as she stood from her chair and started grabbing her things. On our way out of the building we passed my father who was talking to the woman behind the security desk instead of cleaning the lobby like he was supposed to be.
When he saw us coming through the lobby he stopped and started acting like he was sweeping. "we already saw you!" quavo said.
"nobody asked you!" my dad shouted back.
