I'm bandaging a women's arm in the hospital unit of my school. Everyone in my section learns medical, guard work, agriculture, and a few other important jobs to keep the peace in our section. When we are 15 we are then assigned to one of our sections jobs. I work extra hard in medical work since Im hoping to be assigned as a nurse. I hear an announcement over head and I listen "at this moment we will be having a public execution at section six hall" I stop what I'm doing and I panic inside. I go to grab the bandaging tape but my hands are shaking so much i drop it. I bend to pick it up and brush off any dust. The women coughs a little since the bunkers air is polluted with dust. Most people have coughs and asthma but there is nothing we can do.
"Are you okay?" she asks

"Yes. im fine" i quickly reply

"Are you sure? You look a little scared"

"I'm just worried about the announcement"

"We haven't had a public execution in awhile"

"I've never been to one"

"Good thing. They are not pretty".  I quickly tape the bandage and I run out of my school and i push my way through the crowds of people heading to the hall. The section six hall is across the street and used for public speeches and other section six community events. when I get inside I'm greeted by three guards.

"Are you Luna jacobson" they ask me

"Yes". They escort me to a small back room where I meet my mother and brother. There faces are both white and I can see the fear in their eyes.

"What is going on?" I ask scared what I'm thinking is true.

"Sweetheart" my mother begins in a shaky voice "there executing your father" my mother tells me as she pulls me into a hug.

"There letting us see him before..." she stops before saying the words.

The door opens and we pull away from each other. My father is lead in by a guard as he comes into the room and my brother runs and hugs him first. He's not handcuffed and he hugs my brother close to him. The guard quickly leaves the room and locks the door behind him My father whispers something to my brother and then pulls away from there hug.

"Be strong my son" he says to him as he stands up and hugs my mother and he kisses her lips before turning to me.

"My little Luna" he says and hugs me close to him. I breath in his scent which i could never figure out was. The hug lasts forever it seems and its warmness warms me against the coldness of the bunker. I left my jacket at school and i wish i had remembered to put it on. I feel my father stroke the back of my head.

"You must do something for me" he whispers close to my ear "there's a box of books under the floorboards in the living room. They are yours now keep them secret and safe for me"

"I promise I'll keep them safe" I tell him

"I love you and please don't give your mother a hard time"

"I love you to father" i quietly say as tears start to come to my eyes. The door flies open and two guards grab my father and start to drag him away from the family he is so proud of and which he began with my mother 14 years ago. I grab his arm tightly and i embrace him into another tight hug not wanting to let him go and say goodbye forever.

"No..no dad" I scream as they rip us apart

"It's gonna be okay Luna. Don't fight them"

They hold me back as I try to grab my father's hand one last time as they drag him out of the room. My mother comforts me when I'm finally let go of. She grabs my hand and my brothers and she leads us out of the room into the hall. The hall is a large empty room with wooden walls which makes it more presentable. There's a stage when you first walk in and there's usually chairs around but today its empty and the crowd stands. they stare at us when they see us walk to the front of the crowd and wait with them. I'm crying as they lead my father across the hall and onto the stage. They read "Jacobson will be put to death for treason of disruption of peace. May he Rest In Peace" they put my father into the death chair and tie his hands and legs to the chair. He doesn't fight them but he stares directly at me and gives me a little smile that everything will be okay. His smile fades as they press the button and my father's body shakes and blood starts to drip from his eyes, mouth, and ears. I scream and fall to the ground as I watch my father die. Many people look away and my mother joins my side of the ground and holds me close to her as we both cry. When my father is completely gone they check his pulse and announce he's dead. They lay his body on a stretcher and cover him with a sheet and they take him away.
