“What do you mean? He’s sat there for you to see what that man did to him and you’re telling me there’s not enough evidence to rid him from Zayn’s life?” Anne Cox’s voice shrieked at the police officer that she was stood in front of.

She had been confronting him for the last ten minute with no results, he just kept recycling the same garbage to her before telling her to calm down. At this, she would always scoff and give a roll of her eyes before going off again, recycling her case to him. Her shoulders would tense as her arms would fly around as she spoke, something that the two big brown eyes watching her registered as a character of not only her, but her son too.

Zayn Malik’s curious face was peaked up curiously as his big brown eyes watched Anne stand with the officer. He had watched the whole scene, his poor mind struggling to keep up with all of the officers that were stood around his house, all wearing their uniforms.

There had started with three officers on scene that had arrived in the first police car. At the sight of the cars, Anne had told the boys to stay in the car before she got out to talk to them. Zayn had been sat in the back of the car, watching through the back window as the situation played out. He’d seen the other police officers come in the other police car, two more, who talked through walkie-talkies that were attached to their chests.

Zayn had occasionally looked away from the five officers that were outside of his house and towards Harry, who was sat in the front seat with his elbows on the dashboard. He hadn’t looked towards Zayn, instead his green eyes kept their attention towards his mother and the officers. His chin was tucked into his hands, his curls trapped within a dark grey beanie. Zayn’s brown eyes also noticed that the boy’s face looked serious, which was why he had decided that this must have been a serious situation.

Harry and Anne had told him that they were doing this for his best. He had nodded and tried to understand that apparently his Father wasn’t treating him how he should be. A voice in his mind told him that they were telling the truth, as he thought back to all of the poorly spots that had scattered his body, but his mind was just finding it hard to process. Zayn’s mind was still struggling to keep up as he flickered from the view of Harry to the police officers outside his house, who were now entering the property. But as his eyes naturally settled on his boyfriend, and how Harry was hunched over in his seat with a slight bicep protruding from the thin sleeves of his T-shirt, he felt a little at ease.

His window had been lowered a little so he could get some air, which was how the boy had heard Anne trying to talk to the officer. He recognised that she was having a tough time of it and wondered why. She had her back to the car, but every so often would turn and point towards the car, although the quiet boy had a feeling that it was towards him. But he trusted Anne and knew that whatever she was doing, she was doing for the best. She and Harry had promised so.

“This fucking idiot is an imbecile. Fluff, I’ll be back in a minute, I promise.” Harry sighed raggedly, before Zayn watched his boyfriend reach to unbuckle himself from the car.

Zayn’s eyes scanned over his boyfriend as he opened the car door and shuffled from it, almost slamming the door once it closed. Zayn barely had time to appreciate the little clunk that came from the seat belt being unclicked because he was so desperately watching Harry walk towards his Mother and the officer that she was talking too. His brown eyes quickly looked over the door that he was practically pressed up against to look from the window, before he saw the small winder.

He took the winder in his hands, his mind telling him that to bring the window down a little more it needed to be wound anticlockwise. He did so and the cool air of the day hit him as the window slowly scrolled down. He watched the window intently, the inanimate object comforting him a little from the situation and confusion. His big brown eyes slowly traced over the small raindrops that had gotten caught at the top of it, a small line of thin dirt from where the window had been too tucked away to be cleaned. He smiled a little, his mind recognising how naughty the small line of dirt was, before he stopped the window as it reached his eyebrows.
