The end of the day was finally here, and Sarah started her search for Kayla. It was time to nail down her game plan.
"What are you going to say?" Olivia asked her, as they walked down the hallway.
"What do you mean?" Sarah asked. "I'm literally going to ask her what her plan is and threaten her. I'm not playing word games."
"Gotcha," Olivia said. "That's probably a good idea."
Sarah rolled her eyes. "Why don't you find Caitlin and meet me back at my house. We can sneak into the liquor cabinet before my parents get home."
"Yay!" Olivia said. "Ok, see you later."
Sarah shook her head. As much as she loved Olivia, she annoyed her to no end.
She continued her search for Kayla, knowing where her last class was and where her locker is. Sarah prided herself on being the principal's daughter.
Sure enough, Kayla was standing at her locker alone.
"Perfect," Sarah thought. She started walking briskly towards her.
Then, Andrew had stopped to talk to Kayla.
Panicked, Sarah got behind a row of lockers to listen to what was going on.
"Hey, Kayla," Andrew said.
Kayla looked behind her locker door to see Andrew standing there. "Hi," she said. A sudden rush of nervousness hitting her now.
"Do you have a second?" Andrew asked her.
Kayla shut her locker door. "I need to catch my ride home," she said. "But we can walk and talk?"
"Sure," Andrew said, walking next to her now.
Sarah watched the two walking down the hallway. "Shit," she said to herself. She started to casually follow them and listen.
"So, Jake is trying to plan that bowling thing..." Andrew said.
"Ok," Kayla said, she was trying really hard to contain her excitement.
"I was wondering if you maybe you'd want to go with me?" Andrew said. "I know Adrienne will be gone, so I thought maybe..."
"Hmm," Kayla said, pretending to think about it.
Andrew ran his fingers through his hair, feeling a little nervous himself. "Look, it doesn't have to be a date or anything... We could just go as friends. I don't want you to feel like I'm asking because Adrienne is leaving and stuff..."
Kayla smiled casually. "I know, it's totally fine. We could get to know each other better. It's been awhile since we've hung out."
"Right, exactly," Andrew said, feeling relieved.
"I'll have to get back to you," Kayla said. "I thought about being with Adrienne and her family that day."
"Ok," Andrew said. "No worries, just let me know."
The two had made it to the front entrance, where Sam had been waiting for Kayla to give her a ride home.
"Will do," Kayla said. "Thanks, Andrew."
Andrew nodded and walked away. "See ya," he said.
"Bye," Kayla said. She walked over to Sam now.
"Whoa... Was Kayla just talking to Andrew?" Sam said, taking a headphone out of her ear.
"Hell ya she was!" Kayla said. "He was asking me to be his date for that bowling thing Jake is planning for Saturday!"
Sam pursed her lips. "I hate to break your heart, like I already did with Rebecca today," she said. "But that 'bowling thing' is not happening. Remember?"
