«Some days it's hard to see if I was a fool, or you, a thief. Made it through the maze to find my one in a million. Now you're just a page torn from the story I'm living.»

(Five years ago.)
Her father smiled softly at her before taking back his full attention to the piano. The past days for her were, with no exaggeration, pretty shitty, listening to her father playing the piano for her was more than a relief. Jenna remembered back when her mother past away, the only thing that seemed to be able to take the sadness away from her was listening to Ivan Lavryn playing the piano. It turned into her safe space, and her father knew. Whenever Jenna needed to take her mind away from something he was more than glad to have her sitting in the living room while he played a melody for her.
As soon as her dad hit the final note, Jenna grinned widely, clapping as if they were in an official concert. Ivan bowed, Jenna chuckled. He abandoned his position in front of the piano and walked towards her, taking seat next to her. Jenna turned to him, giving him a tiny smile. She didn't like to look sad around her father, so she always tried her best to not do it. Sometimes she forgot he was her father and knew her better than anyone else.
"That was lovely. As always." Jenna complimented him.
Ivan tilted his head to the side, looking at his daughter with adoration. "Thank you so much darling. I know how much that song calms you down." Growing up with someone like her father, the lullabies were quite important. "Is everything alright, Jenna?" And with the look he gave her, Jenna knew she couldn't lie to her father.
It's not like she never talked about her stuff with people. Isaac and her sister pretty much spent hours with her when she wanted to vent about anything. If she decided to keep something to herself, that something would probably eat her alive, so whenever she couldn't talk to her sister, Isaac was always right there. However, talking to her father was completely different, especially if Eden was involved in the matter.
"Define alright." Jenna joked, her father shook his head as a smile formed on his lips.
Ivan took her hands, squeezing them. "You look tired. I hope you're not overworking yourself again." Jenna shook her head, kind of lying about that. She was not overworking like other times, but with the situation between Eden and her going so intermittent, sometimes she decided to stay at work or studying more to get distracted. "Are you sure? Sometimes you forget how much of your mother you have on you." That was true. Her mother used to be an overachiever.
"It's good." That didn't sound nearly as convincing as she thought.
Her dad narrowed his eyes, then got even more comfortable in the couch. "I remember one day when you were a little girl, I took you to the park and you were playing with some kids, one of them pulled your hair so you came back running to me, eyes watery and pouting. I asked you what was wrong, and you constantly shook your head, despite almost crying in front of me. That same night you told your mom a kid on the park pulled your hair, but you didn't tell me because you didn't want daddy to get worried. Pretty sure that's not the only time you've hidden something from me." Jenna flashed him a smile. Ivan raised both eyebrows and softly patted her hands. "I believe we're both past the hiding stage, aren't we my love?" She nodded. "Is it Eden?"
Ivan Lavryn had never questioned any of her decisions, mainly because out of his two daughters, Jenna (despite being the younger one) seemed to be the most down to earth. When he found out about her relationship with Eden Hazard, he didn't get his nose into the matter, even when he did think it evolved quite fast. But she was Jenna, she looked happy, and how could he ask for more when his daughter arrived home with a wide grin almost every day?
