«Secrets I have held in my heart are harder to hide than I thought.»
---
Jenna stared at the screen, waiting for her flat-mate to pick her video call. As much as she hated to admit it, maybe she didn't miss Lille as much as she thought she would. Sure she missed Elodie a lot, but the thought of being in London didn't disgust her as it used to do it. Despite everything that had happened so far with her and...well, Eden Hazard.
"Jenna Lavryn." The French girl finally picked the call. Elodie smiled widely, she was clearly laying on her bed. "Remind me if I'm wrong but weren't you supposed to be back by my side already?" She placed her free hand on her chin, scratching it in a funny way.
Jenna snorted. She was pretty aware of that fact. "Yeah, things got a little complicated over here. I know I should've been there already." Jenna awkwardly smiled. Elodie raised both eyebrows, sensing something was up with her.
The original plan was to stay in London for a few weeks, then travel back to Lille after her father's last performance. For some reason, Jenna was still in London. She had stuff to handle back in Lille, she had to go back at some point.
"I, uh, talked to Mila." Mila was the head of the clinic where she worked at. The woman was about her father's age and didn't hesitate a minute when Jenna initially asked for vacations to be in London. Though after talking to her and asking about more time to be absent from her job Jenna had to admit she kind of manipulated the truth as to why she needed more time to stay in London. "She was very understanding." Jenna was a good employee, worked her ass off to get where she was, even during holidays. Mila wouldn't deny her anything.
Her flat-mate nodded. "I'm not worried about Mila. I know that woman loves you." She got the phone closer to her face, trying to get a good look of Jenna. "However I am a little bit worried about you." Jenna swallowed hard. "Is everything alright? Are you okay?"
When Jenna moved with Elodie she had explained her reasons to be in Lille but never intended to tell her how fucked up she was at the time. Until she couldn't hide how much it affected her just barely remembering Eden. Elodie was with her through everything. She accompanied her to drown her sorrows, tried to get her someone else, even treated her like they've known each other for years while at the time they had been together for a few weeks.
She was there when Jenna went through one of the toughest moments in her life, so Elodie had an idea of the way it could trigger her being back in London.
"What do you think?" Jenna gave her a weak smile.
Elodie shrugged. "I think you might need to talk with someone, and I have the feeling I'm that person." She was right.
Of course, Isaac was there with her, and she could talk with him about whatever it was going on with her, but Jenna knew the mere mention of Eden Hazard would end up in Isaac telling her how much of an asshole he was and reminding her of all the stuff he did to her. She didn't need anyone to remind her how stupid she was for putting herself in such situation with a guy who treated her like crap.
Isaac understood, but Elodie had more touch.
"What did you tell me five years ago when I told you how Eden broke my heart?" Jenna asked, her bottom lip quivered.
Elodie slightly furrowed her brows. She pouted for a couple of seconds. "I don't have good memory but I'm pretty sure it was something along the lines of he's an asshole and you're the cutest girl in the world. Why?"
