Vaela rose from her spot on Sansa's couch so quickly that something in her neck popped. She did not care as she searched the room for a weapon and someone to kill. She made her way over to Sansa to see the girl rise from a bed of blood. The back of her nightgown was stained red just like her sheets. "It's all right," she tried to comfort. The girl had already started to cry, furiously stabbing at the stained mattress.
Vaela made her way to the door, intent on closing it, but Shae stood there. "Guard her," she demanded in a low voice. She closed the door behind her and immediately went to find Jaime. He will help us, she tried to convince herself, he will betray his sister for me.
It wasn't until she'd reached his chamber door that she was truly convinced. "Jaime?" She opened the door slowly but seeing him awake and at his desk, reading, she smiled. "Come with me." She had no time to explain as she grabbed his hand and dragged him from his seat. He laughed lightly at the frantic way she tried to drag him but stopped when he saw that she was not laughing at all.
They made it to Sansa's room just as a handmaiden tried to sneak out. The girl was not Shae and the fact made Vaela scowl. She looked at Jaime and he seemed to understand to go help Shae inside while Vaela went to threaten the girl's life. "Where are you going?" She grabbed the girl by her shoulder with a dragonglass blade at her throat.
"The Queen should know." Vaela shook her head.
"She will know nothing, do you hear me?" Vaela pushed the girl into the wall with a grimace. "Do you hear me?" With that, the girl nodded timidly and went in the opposite direction she'd been going. Sighing loudly, Vaela sheathed her blade and fixed the skirts of her nightgown.
She returned to Sansa's bedchambers but not to a sight she wanted to see.
Vaela did not fear Cersei as the the woman'd wanted. She was not some weak doe like the role Sansa played. If only you knew who I truly was, the woman thought to herself as she followed Sansa into the Queen's chambers. "Your mother might have prepared you." The blonde woman sat the girl in a seat across from her at her desk, glaring at Vaela all the way. "You flowered, my dear. No more."
"My mother told me, but I thought it would be different." Sansa looked down at her intertwined fingers and tears in her eyes.
"In what way?" Cersei eyed the girl suspiciously but Sansa did not raise her head. Play your part, Vaela thought to hersef, of the Stark girl. Play the fool and think like the Queen herself.
"I thought it would be less..." the girl finally looked up, "less messy."
Vaela could not stop herself from snorting. It earned a glare from Cersei and a slight laugh from Sansa. She did not glare back but she made sure to show that she did not fear the Queen. "Wait until you birth a child." Cersei said quickly, looking from Vaela to bore down on the young girl. "You're a woman now. Do you have any idea what that means?"
