"Lord Varys," she bowed her head kindly as he closed the door behind him with a glance towards her. "What brings you?" Please, let it be good news. From the North or otherwise.
The bald man smiled. "My little birds have sung songs for you." She raised a brow. When he came to sit across from her at Sansa's dining table, she put down her book and nodded. Sansa glanced at them her balcony and offered a soft smile when Varys look her way. "Robb Stark has left the Crag to return to his camp. They sing that all goes well in his camp, despite the attempts by certain groups to divide others." In a low voice, the man mentioned Ynira. "Last I heard, your sister was spotted in his camp for only a day. They say he gave her charge of a young boy to return to Winterfell. Haven't a clue who that could be."
Vaela smiled knowingly. "Maybe his brother," she thought aloud. Behind Varys' back, Sansa smiled as well. Arya and my sister have been boys since they left this wretched city. "Anything else?"
He smiled knowingly and she couldn't keep the smile off of her own face. "There's always more, my lady." She rose to offer him watered-down wine, the only drink she enjoyed in her moments of stress but he declined. "Books are being sent to you from the Citadel. It was easy, I must say, to get so many out of that dingy place. All of its inhabitants seem half-dead already," he laughed and she did too.
"That's good. What books are being brought back?" She sat back down and crossed her legs.
"Anything with mention of the Children of the Forest, the Others or the magic forces beyond the Wall. And a few on dragons, for both of us." She smiled and opened her mouth to thank him. "I plan on reading them as well. I'd like to know if I should be believing in you after such a short time knowing you." She nodded with a smirk.
"As is your right, my lord."
Even held back by two guards while the great Tywin Lannister circled her, Vaela didn't quite feel fear. She knew the respect the man with the power and prowess to control any noble he pleased, even the King, but she did not fear him. I have your son in the palm of my hands, she wanted to threaten. It felt wrong of her, to use Jaime as a pawn in her games though that was her first intention with him some years ago, so she held her tongue.
"My son is a member of the Kingsguard, you know?" He stopped a few feet in front of her, hands folded neatly behind his back and his hard gaze set on her stoic form. "What makes you think you can seduce him, manipulate him to your will without consequence?" She wanted to brag that it was easy, that it took only a few choice encounters to entice the Lannister into trusting her but she held her tongue. "Have you got something clever, girl? Or has the cat got your tongue?"
She smiled, a feigned innocence in her eyes, and spoke. "I needed him to trust me," she started simply, her voice growing more of a challenging tone as she proceeded, "he was just the man I needed to bring information into the Capital." She left it at that, meeting Tywin's gaze in a hardset reflection of his own.
