A month into the tour and it was already happening, complete pandemonium. Every girl at school had their merchandise and their teeth constantly chattered with their latest songs. Girls who had never taken a second glance at me, now wanted to be my bestfriend. I knew what they wanted, Wesley, not me. They thought since we had been bestfriends I could help them get closer to him, little did they know, I wanted him just as bad as they did.
The boys were finally reaching their dream, they were on top of the world, and the tour was barley getting started. Everyday news stations had reports of them getting mobbed and it made my heart hurt. The things that me the most sad, was when they made up fake stories and started rumors about the boys. Before they left to go on tour, I had gotten closer with Landon, Seth, and Carter, and I knew they would never do the things in those stories.
I was spending my Saturday like every other weekend, at the library. I was walking down the sidewalk on my way to work when I dropped my coffee. Just my luck, it landed on some guy in a hoodie's shoes.
"I'm sooo sorry!" I apologized bending down to clean up my mess.
"No pro- ...Anna?" He responded.
I looked up.
"Landon?" I rubbed my eyes.
"Shhh. we can't draw attention." he said quietly pulling us away from the walking traffic.
"Landon! I missed you!" I said pulling him into a hug.
"I missed you too buttercup!" he laughed.
"Wait. what are you doing here?" I asked
"We've got a break today, before our gig tomorrow." He said looking relieved and slightly tired.
"Where are you playing tomorrow?" I asked
"Here, didn't Wesley tell you?" He questioned.
I looked down at my shoes.
"No, we haven't talked since you guys left." I blushed trying to keep the emotions held back.
"Oh" he said quietly. "Hey, do you wanna go get some coffee, seeing as though you spilled yours all over my shoes?"
"Sorry, again for that. Hmm, I'm sure they won't mind if I'm a little late for work" I smirked.
Landon and I walked down the street talking and catching up. He kept his hood on, although he did catch the eyes of a couple of girls who asked for autographs.
"Are you Landon's girlfriend?" one of them asked.
"No, we're just friends" Landon answered for me.
"Wait! I know who you are" the other one said. "You're Wesley's girlfriend!" I bowed my head and shook it no.
"She just Wesley's friend too. Now thank you but we'll have to be going" Landon said pulling me away from them. I had my head down, choking back tears.
'Just Wesley's friend'
No one had ever said those words out loud, but now that they had, it stung. It felt as though my heart was dipped in honey and hung over a bee hive, the bees taking the bait and gladly plunging their sharp stingers into me.
"Hey, babe it's alright" Landon said hugging me making circles on my back. "You'll just have to excuse them, they don't know."
I gathered myself and we walked in to the coffee shop. Landon ordered while I sat at the table. When he came back he sat down a coffee and turned his head in confusion.
"What is it?" he asked.
"Do you have to keep that hood on?" I asked. "I just wanted things to be normal, like they used to be."
He looked around, then pulled off the hood.
"Ann, things have changed, though, they're not the same." he whispered.
"Tell me about it" I mumbled rolling my eyes. "So how are things?" I asked.
"Pretty awesome, traveling the world is cool, but it's nice to be home and see familiar faces, what about you? how are things here?" He asked.
"Pretty normal, except every girl in the school wants to be my bestfriend so they can get close to you guys."
"Oh Ann, I'm so sorry, I had no idea how hard this was on you." he looked down.
"Oh it's not that bad." I responded.
We sat there for what seemed like hours just talking and laughing. I looked down at my watch.
"Oh shoot! I didn't realize it was so late, I've gotta get to work!"
"Oh, ok. it was nice catching up with you." Landon said hugging me.
"It certainly was, if you ever have another day off, I'll be here." I smiled "I'll see you later, ok?"
"Ok, I'll see ya" he responded.
I turned on my heels and headed out the door.
"Wait! Anna!" Landon shouted, Running after me. I turned around.
"If you love him" he whispered "Show him. Cause honestly, he's a mess without you." he smiled and handed me an envelope.
I turned back around and started my walk to the library. I flipped the envelope around in my hands, but didn't open it till I got inside the library. I went back into the back offices and held in my hands. I quickly slipped a finger under the flap and opened it.
Inside was a ticket. A ticket to tomorrow's show.
