Now look where we are. Nine years later. We're both eighteen now, and in our senior year. We've changed a lot, but only physically, Mentally we are the exact same. We're still connected at the hip, and I expect it to remain like that forever. Just as I suspected Wesley and Landon have grown closer everyday and are now almost inseparable. As for Landon and I, he's become the older brother I didn't know I wanted, but the one I needed.
Going through high school it was hard for Wesley and I. People didn't like me, I didn't have many special talents, and I was by no means a beauty queen. Wesley on the other hand, was loved by everyone. He was always the center of attention, especially for the ladies. Though every girl in school swooned over him, he never had a girlfriend. He said he didn't need a girl, because I would always be the special one in his life. I wasn't sure what he meant, then.
Wesley, Landon and two of Landon's friends, Seth and Carter, started a band our sophomore year. They called themselves "Four:one". They weren't well known but they got a few small gigs every now and then. I always went and stood front row, listening to the music and feeling it absorb into my skin. Wesley said he liked having me in the front row because he liked the way I looked when I got lost in the music, so that's where I always was. Although I hated the scene of the concert experience I always came. Sure, it smelled repulsive and I felt like a gold fish in an endless sea of sweaty sharks, but that was my Wesley. I had to be there, for him. God knows his family wouldn't be.
Growing up, Wesley's parents more or less ignored him. They were constantly wrapped up in the drama on Wall Street, and more concerned with their money than their own son. He never had a curfew, they didn't care. They were always away on "business" be we all knew they were away throwing wesley's college fund into some slot machine.

I was sitting in my room Saturday night when I heard knocking on my window. I rolled up the blinds and unlocked my window, Wesley was sitting on the balcony smiling with a letter in his hand.
"Wesley what are you doing? you scared me to death!"
"Do you know what this is!!?" he asked me "This is a letter from the student council, they want our band to play at the prom!""Oh Wes!" I said hugging him, "That's amazing!"
It wasn't amazing.
I was looking forward to him asking me to the prom, but if he was playing how could he be my date? I congratulated him anyways.
"What's wrong ?" he asked. I didn't say a thing but he could read me like a book.
"Nothing, I just don't think I'm going to the prom, I don't have a date...and...I don't know" I stuttered.
"Oh" was all he said. "I don't want to perform without you there."
"You'll do fine, I promise" I reassured him. "I'll come watch you practice"
He sighed but agreed anyways, I could tell he was hesitant but he really wanted this. He waved and climbed back out the window a little less enthusiastic than when he came. I want he's him trudge home but soon heard the best of drums drone on through the night.Prom was next Saturday so Wes's week was packed with grueling practices and sound checks. I went to every single one. They were gradually getting better and better and I could see it. At times I wishes I didn't have to be there but then when I look at Wesley I can't help but smile. It still amazes me how happy he looks doing what he loves. When we went to set up the stage Friday night I was taken back by the elegant decor. The twinkling lights and flamboyant hanging fabric only made me wish more that I could share tomorrow with Wesley.
----
After the band got done setting up Wesley and I decided to walk down the street to the pizza parlor For lunch. On the way there we walked past a dress store full of ball gowns. I stood in awe at the girls graciously swaying around in their dresses. I didn't want to make it obvious to Wesley how much I wanted to go to prom, but I couldn't help but stop and stare,In the window was the most beautiful gown I had ever seen. A strapless dark purple ball gown with dark lace across the top. I longed to wear that dress, but mostly I longed to have somewhere to wear the dress.I noticed Wesley stating curiously. I have him a reassuring smile as I met him at the door of the parlor. He held the door and I smiled again but he could tell what I wanted. I knew he could.
