Chapter 9

Nicole

"How do I look?" I said to carly.

"You're gonna look so beautiful at your moms wedding," She said. I had a a dress that came a little up my knees. The top half was black lace, the bottom half was an ice blue. I had on black pumps, and i curled my hair. I also did a black smokey eyes.

"Well my mom didnt ask me to be her bridesmaid," I said.

"Hey thats her loss you would've been the prettiest bridesmaid in the world," Carly said.

"Thanks Carly," I said hugging her. "Well I better get going."

"Wait did you tell Kian?" She said.

"Yeah he should already be in New york," I said. I opened the door and Kian was right there in a tux with a ice blue bow and a white flower in his hands.

"Ready?" He asked. I hugged him.

"Kian you should've been in New York for digi tour by now," I said.

"Well i couldnt let you go to the wedding alone," he said. I wasnt gonna be alone i had some of my cousins there. I didnt tell him though. i took the flower and we got into his car.

We got to the church and we sat down. I couldnt find my dad. I texted him asking where he was but he didnt answer. I heard the music start to play and we all sat down.

The ceremony was great, my mom looked so happy with her new husband. But she never mentions him that often to me. I went over to my mom to congradulate her.

"Hey mom congradulations," I said hugging her but she was just pacing back and forth.

"Mrs. Brookes are you ok?" Kian asked.

"No I just found out the singer is sick and he can't perform," She said.

"Nicole will perform!" Kian said. I looked at him wide eyed. What is he doing.

"Yeah great idea Nicole you have the voice of an Angel!" she said.

"Mom i dont even know what to sing," i said.

"Sing whatever you want," she said.

"Mom I'm just not-" i said but she cut me off.

"Please," she said.

"Fine i'll sing," i said. My mom hugged me and I got up stage. A bright light shined on me.

"Um hey everyone hows it going?" i said. Everyone said good or just nodded.

"Um I'm gonna sing Can''t help falling in love" I said. I heard the ukulele music start to play. 

"Wise man say, only fools rush in. But I can't help falling in love with you." I continued to sing the song and towards the end I looked at Kian and he had the biggest smile on his face. The song ended and everyone applauded. I walked off the stage and Kian pulled me in close and kissed me. I smiled and my mom came up to us with her new husband. 

"This is Bryan," She said looking at him. The way she looked at him, it was the same way I looked at Kian. 

"Nice to meet you Bryan," I said. "My mom has told me a lot about you." That was a lie, but I didn't want to say my mom hardly mentioned you. She didn't even tell me you guys were getting married.

"Nicole," My mom said. "So I hear you're spending time with Derrick."

"Yeah," I said. "he is my dad I feel like maybe I could try and give him another chance." 

"Stay away from him Nicole," she said. 

"Why would I do that?" 

"You didn't know him like I did. He's done, and is probably still doing something that can hurt you." 

"Mom you can't make my decisions for me. I'm not a little kid anymore." I yelled. 

"He abused you and he made you turn into a suicidal teenager that you are now!!" She yelled at me. I cant believe she just said that to me. In front of everyone. I ran outside. I ran to the field of grass that was across the street. I sat there and started crying. I felt drops of water fall onto my shoulder. I looked across at the pond that was in front of me. I saw water fall into it. 

I felt someones hand on my shoulder. I looked up and saw Kian. 

"Let's go home." He said. He picked me up bridal style and carried me to the car. We got in and he started driving back home. 

"I hate her," I whispered to myself.

"Nicole we're the only ones in the car you dont have to whisper," Kian said.

"Why would she say that," I said. "In front of everyone."

"I dont know but that was a really stupid thing to say," he said. He turned on the radio and Really Dont Care by demi loavto was on.

"C'mon Nicole i know you love this song," he said.

"Kian please turn it off I'm not in the mood," I said. He turned it up.

"But even if the stars and moon collide i never want you back into my life you can take your words and all your lie oh oh oh," Kian sang. He had a hella good voice. "C'mon i know you know the next part."

"I really dont care," i sang. "And I'm not just singing the song." He looked at me and laughed. I couldn't help myself, his laugh was so contagious. I laughed as well.
