All week I had fallen into a pattern which consisted of : eating, practicing for my audition and barely any sleep. As hard as it was, I hadn't broken my strict regimine because being apart of the play was everything to me. I couldn't afford to screw up when I was so close to my big break.

As per usual I showed up early at the drama studio, using this as an opportunity to practice one last time. So when I saw a flash of auburn hair appear in the doorway I wasn't pleased.

I placed my script down on a nearby chair. "What are you doing here so early?"

"I don't tend to confide with losers about my plans." And with a flip of her hair, she barged past and me strutted towards the bathroom. It took everything in me not to respond.

Just as I went back to getting into character, students started to appear in the studion my script and go over it one last time. Now all I could do is hope that all those hours I put into practicing would be worth it.

Yet again Finn was late to the drama session. He turned up almost 30 minutes late with his signature black coffee from Starbucks clamped in his hands, nearly tripping through the doorway. His excuse this time was that he had overslept, which was believable. Finn had half his buttons on his shirt done up; his glasses were on the brink of falling of his nose and his hair looked like it hadn't been washed in months.

To be straightforward - he was a hot mess. If you had seen in public you would run away into the opposite direction.

"Finn did you even take a shower?" Pippa scrunched her face in disgust. "You smell awful."

"I did last week."

Last week! That's so gross.

"Is this what a midlife crisis looks like?" Pippa muttered under her breath. "If so I never want to age.

I snorted loudly causing heads to look in my direction. Using my perfect acting skills I was able to make it look like I was coughing.

Finn instructed the class to get into a pair one boy and one girl.

Within seconds everyone was paired up ready to listen to what Finn had planned next. Well everyone except me.

"You two at the front, show me what you got."

As I watched everyone audition, I grew less confident in myself. I knew for fact that I wouldn't even get a part in the play let alone play Gabriella.

"Hannah you're next. Since you don't have a partner, I'll be Troy."

Way to rub it in Finn.

I stood up from my seat and went onto the stage. It was hard to focus when so many eyes were on you. Then  I remembered what Finn had told me in our first ever session. To imagine I wasn't in front of anyone but alone in my happy place.

I held onto the microphone and closed my eyes, letting the lyrics of the song roll of my tongue freely. I swayed in sync to the music feeling the beat of the music around me. Smiling I felt a new sense of confidence within me, for once I felt in control. The song came to an end and everyone started to clap.

Even Amelia looked a little stunned though she was trying to hide it as much as possible.

"That's it for the auditions. You can all go now." Finn shooed us all out like we were pests.

Once we were outside, I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was Pippa.

"I know we don't talk much, but I just thought I had to tell you sounded  amazing. " Would it be okay if we could meet tomorrow at the cafe so you could give me a few tips on your brilliant voice?"

Of fucking course!

"Sure let's meet at ten."
