It All Started With An App

Chapter 14

Finn randomly appeared out of nowhere and waved at us like he had drunk 10 cups of coffee beforehand.

"Hey kiddies! How did you find that game? It was cool right?"

Amelia stomped over towards him and pointed her finger at his chest. "You call that a game? Even I wouldn't do something like that if I was offered to hang out with Kim Kardashian."

Finn raised his hands in defense. "Hey all I did was kidnapp you, drug you and help you practice for the real game."

"I'm sick and tired of these games." Onyx said whilst frowning. "Just take us home."

"Why would I take you home when I haven't even gotten through the second phase of my experiment yet? Don't be stupid girl."

Michael tried to remain calm as he took a deep breath. "Don't call her stupid."

Onyx locked eyes with Michael for a few seconds longer than normal. She gave him a small smile which faded as soon as she realised Amelia's jealous eyes on her.

Finn cleared his throat averting their attention to him. " I'm sure you'd all like to know what's going on so Charlie can explain."

We all turned to Charlie who's eyes were plasted to the ground trying to avoid our gaze.

I hadn't noticed until now how he had been unusually quiet when it came to discussions or how I had never even noticed him being there.

Charlie awkwardly chuckled scratching the back of his head. "I can explain."

"It all started with an app. An app called Amigo. That's when I met you Hannah." Charlie explained looking up from his fixed spot on the ground to meet my gaze. "That's when I was contacted by Finn. He told me that if I did him a few favours he'd give me some payment."

"I didn't know you went on dating sites Hannah! Amelia said suddenly intrigued. "I always thought you'd have your first boyfriend in your forties."

"It was not a dating site. And for the record I had my first kiss way before you."

"Wait wha--"

Lexi raised her finger to her lips at the both of us. "Shut up. The rest of us want to know what the hell is going on."

"You see it's just me and my mum at home and we're struggling with bills  so... I had to support her in someway." Charlie continued his head hung down in shame. Even if that meant it wasn't the most moral thing to do.  I began to stalk you and all your friends just like Finn had told me. That day Hannah went to the cafe with Pippa and then the cinema I was there. That day Hannah went to that library I was there -- well not in the library but right outside peeking through the windows.
And I would report back to Finn all the details I had collected that day and in return would be paid."

Onyx darted her eyes at Charlie. "And this is why I don't like making new friends. You really can't trust anyone."

"But Charlie was only did this to help his mum." I said in an attempt to stick up for him. Don't be too harsh on him."

Pippa stared at me like I was a crazed mad man. "This guy stalked us, gave out our private information to some psycho and you still support him! It doesn't matter who he did this for its wrong."

I looked at Michael expecting him to back me up like he usually did. But instead he shook his head and said, "Hannah if you can't see that what he did was wrong you need to wake up. Seriously."

I turned to Lexi and Onyx who both silently nodded in agreement to Michael.

How could none of them see that Charlie was innocent? Sure he did a few bad things but he was still a good person.

"Now we have that out of the way, it's time I explain the rest of it." Finn said pushing his glasses back. "Make sure your listening carefully kiddos, because this is gonna be a long one."
