Charlie and I discussed our favourite Netfix series, musicals and books

Charlie and I discussed our favourite Netfix series, musicals and books. We texted for what seemed like a few minutes but were actually hours. I took a peep out of my window to see if it was dark outside. A multicoulered paint splattered car pulled up in to the driveway.

Great, my parents are back.

I shut my curtains in disappointment, wishing my parents stayed a little longer.

My mum yelled to me from the bottom of the stairs. "HANNAHBOO WE'RE HOME!"

Putting a fake smile on my face, I got off from my bed and bounded down the stairs.

Before I could even say anything my dad trapped me in a tight hug. "Hannahboo we missed you so much."

I didn't miss you.

"So did I."

"There is so much we need to tell you. But first can you take our luggage inside." My dad pointed to the heavy suitcases in the trunk of the car.

I gritted my teeth. "Sure."

After carrying a truckload of suitcases out of the car and into the house, I felt exhausted. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother with these two.

***
Mum had prepared a vegan stir fry for the three of us and we all sat on our dining room table. My parents droned on about their spanish getaway boring me to death. I wanted nothing more than to go into my room and do the things that actually interested me.

"So what do you think Hannah?" My mother asked me.

I looked at her confused. "About what?"

"About the new shirt I just bought you." Mum held it up in front of my face.

It was actually atrocious. I'm not sure what words could describe such a hideous garment of clothing. The patchwork pattern was a combination of two colours, muddy brown and neon yellow. The fabric was already fraying  and I could see a few holes already in armpit holes.

I was shocked that my own mum would think I would like this monstrosity.

Unable to speak I just gave my mum a thumbs up so she would think I'd like it.

My father reached into his backpack.
"I got you something too Hannaboo." He handed me a package. I wasn't sure what was worse the ugly shirt or these bright pink wide length pants my father had bought me.

The fact that my parents didn't even know what I liked dissapointed me. I have never willingly  worn anything hippie style before. Ever. I remember crying when my parents would force me into the weirdest clothes just so I could be like them. For some reason they think I enjoyed wearing those clothes.

I excused myself from the table because I couldn't handle talking to my parents anymore. Not like they noticed anyway, they were to busy chatting away on their phones to all of their friends about their spectacular vacation.

Ping!

Pippa was certainly out of her mind

Pippa was certainly out of her mind. And so was I. I threw on a plain grey hoodie and some black jeans and wore my black leather boots. I crept down the stairs even though my parents were fast asleep, and closed the front door gently behind me.

It took me around five minutes to get to the cafe. When I got there Pippa was already there shivering in the cold. Her hands were in the pockets of her khaki green bomber jacket and she wore black ripped jeans and  dark green converses to match.

"What have you got planned this time?"
