The Accomplice

  As soon as we got to the African exhibit we heard Jed, Octavious, and the others screaming in terror."Everyone remain calm. No sudden movements.", I heard Teddy say calmly. Then I heard a couple of lions roaring. 'Uh oh....', I thought, 'That's one thing that I know I can't face.'  I hid behind Ahk, terrified for my life. "It is alright, love. We kings understand each other.", he whispered in my direction. 'He called me love!!', I thought as I tried to remain calm because of the lions and because of what he called me. I tried to relax a little. They kept advancing toward us. Ahk stood his ground, and stood proud and tall, while keeping his arm protectively in front of me. I must've blushed three shades of red, because my face felt like it was on fire. The lions backed off and went back to their rocks and laid down. The male lion yawned, and immediately went to sleep. Ahk turned to smile at me, "You see, love. You are safe with me." I smiled sighed and blushed. 'What a relief.', I thought. I turned to face the others,"Is everyone ok?" "He escaped with the tablet.", Teddy said urgently. "Oh no! We have to stop him!", I said too quickly. Ahk was calm at my side, "He won't get away with this. We will find him and return my tablet." I looked at Ahk with a semi-worried expression, which he returned. "Let's get going. We need to get things back to normal.", Larry uttered as he started to walk out of the room and then sprinted to the Easter Island head. 

  "How are we going to find him?", I asked Ahk as we ran with the others to catch up with Larry. "We will find him. He won't escape.", Ahk sounded like he was trying to reassure himself more than me. "Ok, but what if we don't. Is this going to be our new reality?", I asked him calmly. "WE WILL THINK OF SOMETHING.", he nearly shouted at me. I tried to calm my nerves. I turned to Larry who was staring at the un-moving Easter Island head. I turned and ran down the hall to the planetarium. Maybe there was something there that Imhotep wanted to help with his evil plans. As I ran, I heard Ahk and the others yelling after me. I had a hunch that maybe, just maybe HE would be there. I passed several frozen exhibits on the way there. It sure was strange seeing time frozen. My hunch was right, because as soon as I made it in the new building, someone grabbed me by the hair, and held a knife to my throat. "I was hoping it would be you.", the deep middle eastern accent of Imhotep whispered against the shell of my ear. "Imhotep.", I uttered. "Come with me my flower. We have much to discuss.", he said as he pulled my roughly by my hair toward the center of the room. "I wasn't planning on-", I uttered but he cut me off after roughly making me sit in a chair and tied me up. "Getting captured? Yet again?", he was in front of me now at eye level, gently pushing back a stray hair from my face. 

  "Oh, you naive girl. I have BIG plans for you.", he said as he got up and paced about the room about to give his villain speech about how it was 'too late' or his BIG plans for 'world domination'. "My whole life I have looked up to the royal family. Served them. Even admired them, but I had BIGGER plans. My alligence to Prince Kahmunrah proved useful only until after he killed King Ahkmenrah. He was next in line for the throne, but he found out about my plans before I could act. He was smarter than I gave him credit for. It is only NOW, that I realize the power I possess centuries later will make me completely INVINCIBLE!!",  he bellowed with maniacal laughter. I then interrupted him while Ahk and the others sneaked into the room trying to steal the tablet and the sands of time, "So, let me get this straight. You KILLED Ahk's family one by one, then forged and alliance with his jealous brother to kill him and once he was killed,  you planned on killing his brother to obtain power?" "YES! DID YOU NOT JUST HEAR WHAT I SAID?!", Imhotep fumed. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Ahk slip Nicky the tablet which he put in his backpack. Then Larry approached the sands of time which was super close to Imhotep. I decided to distract him further. "OK, JEEZ! YEAH I HEARD WHAT YOU JUST SAID!", I decided to yell at him so his attention was solely on me. He almost turned to look behind him, and Larry was almost out of eyesight. "LOOK AT ME WHEN I'M TALKING TO YOU!!",  I yelled. 

  "Obtaining INFINITE power is an amazing feeling.", he looked at me seductively, "It is almost......as seductive as a woman's flesh." "Must've been pretty lonely making up all of those schemes by yourself.", I tried to distract him from looking out the door where everyone except Ahk was escaping. "Actually, on the contrary. I had many a pleasurable night with countless women. Lonely was not something I ever felt.", he whispered seductively at me. "Have you ever been in love?", I found myself asking him. "I don't know what love is.", I whispered more to himself, then he leaned in to kiss me,"Maybe you can show me." I started giggling and then laughing really hard when he pulled away, his ego deflated. "Dude, SERIOUSLY? What kind of a girl do you think I am? I'm a ONE MAN LOON!! Did you SERIOUSLY think I would fall for your act?How GULLIBLE do you think I am?", I laughed in his face. After all of my giggles subsided, I looked at him seriously. "I'll have you know that to be with me, is to be on the winning side. So I suggest that you learn to respect me and get used to being by my side.", he yelled at me. "Do you have a plan 'B'?", I asked him. "WHAT?", he shouted at me. "You know. A plan 'B' and maybe even a plan 'C' for if things don't go the way you expected. Cause, you know if you fail-", I tried to keep him pre-occupied as Ahk snuck over to me to untie my ropes.  "I WILL NOT FAIL!!", Imhotep shouted. 

  "I know, it's just, well back in Ancient Egypt......", I trailed off. He stared at me with rage. "SAY IT. I DARE YOU.", he shook with rage. I breathed out a sigh to prepare myself. "You failed.", I simply said. He slapped the wind out of me. The slap as well as my surprised gasp from the impact, echoed in the large room.  

                                                                                   AHK'S POV

    I shook with rage at seeing my beautiful love being slapped hard across the face. I was almost close enough to slip behind the chair and undo her ropes. I hid behind tables and shadows in the room, not to be seen by Imhotep or my love. "How did it feel? Knowing that you got SO close getting what you wanted only to be put down like the mutt you are?", I heard my love breathlessly say up to him. 'Don't worry, love. I'm coming.', I thought as I slid underneath a table that was close enough for me to reach her ropes. As I untied them, I heard her being slapped hard across the face again. I winced as I got the last knot free.
