Chapter 23 - Long hours

Benedict's POV:

It had already been four hours and they have just finished the operation. A man walked in as me, Juliana,Niall,Amanda and Martin all sat around waiting. "Maddie?" he asks and we all stand. "All of you?" we all nod. "She is alive and is recover. There was a lot of blood. She is in a induced coma and won't be awake for sometime. But the survival of her is slim." he gives us a sympathetic smile.

I sit down and just stare. "I'm Doctor Daniel. I will notify you if any changes happen. You can go in two at a time." we nod. "Ben go on in" Amanda urging me to go in.

I give in and walk in. But the person on the hospital bed didn't look like my Maddie. She looked skinny,grey,cut,bruised and had all kinds of things coming out of her. There was a oxygen thing in her mouth helping her breath.

I took a seat next to Maddie. Gently and carefully I pick up her hand and hold it. "What am I going to do with you" I sigh. She was always easily distracted but now her life was on the line.

I gently bring her hand to my lips and kiss it.

I must of fallen asleep because when I awake it ha been four hours. I glance at Maddie. Still no movement. These are going to be the longest hours!

MADDIE'S POV:

it was dark. I couldn't move. But I could hear voices. "I dont want to leave her" Ben? Benedict was here. "Ben you need to sleep." it was Martin. "No! I'm not leaving her. I'm not abandoning her not again." I heard someone sigh. "Please mate. When was the last time you ate" Benedict has been here for a while by the sounds of it. DAMN IT I NEED TO MOVE. "Yesterday but that's not the point!" darkness surrounds me. No. I'm knocked back into darkness.

Of a lifetime I can near again. "Mother I dont need go to home! I'm perfectly fine" I hear  Benedict snap. "Please Ben" I hear a women's  voice very soft. His mother. I haven't met her yet.

"Mum I'm not leaving her!" Ben.  I need to touch him. Please. My body refuses and I'm consumed by the dark.

When i return I hear sniffing "I was going to ask her to marry me" Benedict sounded beaten. shit. Really?! I feel horrible. "Now Benny come on. Its going to be okay" it was his mother again. "Mum please. I just need her to wake up" he was distressed. URGH Benedict I'm here. I just want to stroke his hair.

"She will Benedict. From what I've heard she is a fighter!!" I fade away once again.

Will I ever wake up?
