Melody

I ran up the stairs as quick as I could so Melissa wouldn't see me and ask what happened. She knew I was with him tonight. She knew better than me and told me not to but I did anyway. I could hear her coming up the stairs behind me. Unlike me she came slowly. This gave me enough time to slip into my room and lock the door before she found me sitting on the floor against the wall.

I put my face in my hands and tried my best to breath normally. Why did I ever do this? I was so stupid. I heard a knock at the door.

"Melody? Let me in please."

"No. I want to be alone."

"Sweetie please, I won't say anything, just listen."

"I don't want to talk about it," I didn't.

"Then let me at least be with you."

"Why?"

"Sometimes you need a friend to just be there."

I thought what she said shortly. I guessed she was right. I walked over a twisted the lock on the door. I couldn't help but except her hug when she entered the room. I really needed this.

Collin

I parked the small rental car near the address she told me. I hoped she hasn't come early and was waiting for me. I know she will already be mad when she see I didn't bring the guitar, but instead I just wanted to talk. I hoped she'd give me the chance.

I saw the sign of the building a few doors down. I walked in and looked for her. She wasn't here yet. I walked over to a table and took my phone. I took a picture of the building and sent it to her.

"This is the place right?"

Five minutes later I got a text back from her. "Yes but I'm stuck in traffic."

"Dammit," I whispered to myself.

I sent her another text, telling her that was okay and asking how long she thought she be."

"20-25 minutes?"she told me.

"I'll order you a drink." I told her.

"No you don't need to buy me anything."

"It's just coffee," I told her.

"Fine. I'll pay you back when I get there." I knew she would say that but I won't be accepting it.

I glanced the menu and noticed why Melody chose this place. I couldn't order for her, it was in French. She brought me to a French cafe.

I waited for a server to come so I could ask what the menu said. He seemed to be taking his time doing the same for a group of girls a table across from me. One was trying to flirt with him. Melody would joke about she knew the girls French was wrong whether she knew if it was being spoke mistakingly on purpose or not. Then she would out speak the waiter and point out any mistakes she saw on the menu once he left. I smiled at the silly thought of her. I checked my phone. It'd only been two minutes. It'd be a long wait.

Melody

I ran around the house looking for the right shoes. Melissa was giving me a knowing look every time I turned around. Collin kept texting so I told him I was stuck in traffic. the cafe was close enough to walk but because of my lie I decided it'd be best to drive.

Once I finally got the right shoes I fished myself out the door. I'm absolutely terrified and keep shaking. I drove as slowly as I could but time eventually got me there. I parked the car and paid the meter. I stopped when I stepped inside the door. I searched through half hopping he left for some odd reason, half hoping he'd come to me and straighten this out and take me home.

No. This is home now.

I saw him staring at a menu, probably trying to figure out the French. He probably hadn't asked the waitor for and English one. He looked up as I slowly approached the table. He stood up.

"Hi," he said, his voice was shaky. He was really nervous.

"Hi," I said back,my voice just as shaky as his. We were both nervous.

He pulled my chair out and waved me to sit down. I did so.

"So...I'm here, let's talk." I told him.

"Okay. First I want to apologize. For everything. Starting with the proposal, I scared you and didn't give you aniline of warning. And that was wrong of me. Not to mention after to ran off I went to talk to Finely whi-"

"Collin stop. I didn't come her for an apology. You screwed up I get that. But you already did that years ago. I may have given you a second chance then but now I'm taking my own chance. No matter what you say. I'm staying in LA." I know I sounded harsh but I needed to tell him and myself that.

"Melody, please just let me explain."

"Fine explain. You get 10 minutes."

"Thank you. I'll say this please don't jump at me after I say this just listen. I didn't kiss Finely, she jumped at me the moment you turned the corner. And I didn't go to the parking lot with her to do anything. She saw you run off and me go after you. She started talking and told me she wanted me to go smoke wither her."

"You don't -"

"But I told her I didn't smoke so she told me we could just talk while she smoked. She started talking about us, me and her when we were together. Then you turned and she was on me."

"You should have told her you didn't go back there to talk about the past. You should've never never went with her in the first place." I was starting to choke. I took a sip of my drink.

"Melody I didn't want it to happen."

"No but you let her do it. You didn't stop her and that hurts. You know why I turned that corner, because I was going to find you and tell you I wanted to get married. But you screwed up."

"I didn't mean for it to happen." He was getting louder.

"No, but you let it happen. You met her kiss you. You let jump at you." I was crying.

"Ma'am are you alright?" A waiter asked me.

"We're fine," Collin spoke for me.

"No were not. We're not fine, if we you fine you wouldn't have done this. We'd be sitting around planning our wedding. And Latin in bed together every morning and every night. But no, we don't get that. Do we?" I told him.

"Melody," he tried to stop me from yelling anymore.

"You let her kiss you, somewhere I only want my lips to go. You let her jump at you, something only I should do. You let it happen" I yelled.

I grabbed my purse and ran out. My massacre was all over my face I didn't have to look to know. I got in the car and out as quickly as I could. I finally reached the house and ran out of the car. I didn't want to hear it from the neighbours next to us about my driving or anything else. I ran inside.

I ran up the stairs as quick as I could so Melissa wouldn't see me and ask what happened. She knew I was with him tonight. She knew better than me and told me not to but I did anyway. I could hear her coming up the stairs behind. Unlike me she came slowly. This gave me enough time to slip into my room and lock the door before she found me sitting on the floor against the wall.

I put my face in my hands and tried my best to breath normally. Why did I ever do this? I was so stupid. I heard a knock at the door.

"Why?"

"Sometimes you need a friend to just be there."

I thought what she said shortly. I guessed she was right. I walked over a twisted the lock on the door. I couldn't help but except her hug when she entered the room. I really needed this. I still needed him. Even though seeing him again was like meeting a stranger.
