Melody
I held my ticket it my hand, switching glances as I looked for my seat.
"32F" I whispered to myself.
"Right here, Melody."
Looking to my right I saw Marissa sitting in the same row I was seated in.
"Oh hey! I guess I'm not alone."
"Nope I'm you're new flying friend."
"Good because I hate flying," I told her.
"Don't we all." She replied as she scooted over to the window seat.
"You don't window do you?"
"God no, I'll never get off the plane alive."
"Good, because I do." She laughed as I sat down next to her.
"How long until take off?"
I checked my phone, " 20 minutes."
"So 40, ok."
"You fly a lot?"
"It's part of the job." She told me.
"Oh, what do you do." Her eyes drifted to my new book, I'm a writer.
"That's amazing. I used to think I was going to write a best seller." I admitted.
"Do you mind me asking what you do?"
"Um, well I want to be a singer/songwriter but that hasn't really took off yet. I'm not even out of high school." Shoot. How am I supposed to transfer while I'm in LA?
"I could help you with that a friend of mine is a big producer."
"Oh my gosh, really?! I'd love that, thank you. You must be a pretty good writer to know these people!"
"That's more of an opinion, but if you say so. I think I'm going to try and write some more on the flight." She pulled her laptop out of her bag.
I decided it would be a good chance to get Collin of my mind. The best way to do that is to be distracted. I opened the book in my lap. After reading a chapter I decided I liked. I turned it over to see who the author was.
"Oh my god, it's you!! You didn't say you were an author!!"
Marissa laughed, "You didn't ask."
"Yes but you even looked at the book. Your own book, and didnt say a thing!"
She laughed at me again. "We'll now you know how I have my connections."
"Uh, yeah."
"Speaking of which where are you staying in La?"
Oh my gosh. I really didn't have this planned out at all. "Um you, that nice place."
"Which one?"
"Oh that really popular a little out of the city..." I didn't want her to know I was going to be homeless.
"You can stay at my place dear, my new friend is not going to get famous while living under a bridge."
"Oh my god thank you!" I told her.
"No biggie" she turned her attention back to her laptop and continued writing.
Only 3 more hours until I can start over, I told myself.
Collin
"I don't think she'll answer, Collin." Natalie told me. She decided she would help me find Melody. I'd rather do it myself but melody obviously doesn't want anything to do with me. Maybe she'd answer her.
"Maybe she'd answer you." I told her.
"I'll call her." I waited to say anything, " her phone must be off Collin."
"She really hates me now doesn't she?" I said more to myself than her.
"She doesn't hate you, she just hates what she thinks you did."
"But I didn't do it."
"She doesn't know that."
"Well am I supposed to get her to know that? She won't reply to texts, won't answer her phone, won't call back," I rambled on, trying to keep myself from crying in front of Natalie.
"Look, I'll her in again in a few hours. She'll probably have her phone turned by then. I'll her how she is and explain what really happened. If she believes me I'll tell her to call you."
"Thank you," I told her, still hiding the lump in my throat," for every thing."
"No problem, I have to take a two hour shift at work, so take a nap or something. You look like you need one." she said as she left.
I did need one I thought I hadn't slept at all last night. How could I? Melody saw another girl kiss me. Finley to make it worse. She knew how I felt about Finely and everything she did to me. She knew Finely was the last girl I really loved before her. She was the first girl I ever loved. I know Melody didn't see the whole thing happen. If she had, she would have seen how awkward it was for me. She'd probably feel awkward too. She'd understand that Finely threw herself at me, literally. I'd still have her. Hell, we could be fantasizing about marriage in bed together right now. But as long as she didn't know the truth that wasn't happening. I have to find her soon. I'll call her dad after I shower and take a nap. I walked to the hotel bathroom, too see Melody's bracelet on the floor. Before I knew I was sitting on the floor starring at it.
