Collin
My phone buzzed from my pocket. I dug it out hoping it was her. I was surprised to see it wasn't her but her dad. I answered.
"Mr.Parker, hello!"
"Please call me Andrew, Collin!"
I laughed, "How are you?" I asked.
"I am fine but how are you, I know things didn't go so well with Melody."
"I'm out looking for her now."
"Oh? So you know where she is?"
"Well not exactly but I know she is in LA," I told him.
"LA? Like Las Angeles, California?"
"Yes, Natalie helped me track her here."
"Well now that I now you're out looking I'd like to know anything you find out." He told me.
"Will do, sir.So what did you call me for."
" I actually, got a call from Melody the other day saying she needed her old guitar back and you had it."
"I do, and I'd be happy to give it to her, but I'll have to find her first."
"Actually she told me strictly to make sure I got it to her. But I honestly believe that Melody doesn't know the whole story behind this, so I'll think of something for you to go along with."
"Are you sure you want to that?"
"Collin, I told you. I like you, you're good for my daughter. I know you'll take care of her, and that's what I want. I'll fight for you until she tells me not to."
"She will if she finds out about this."
"She won't...until later on."
"Alright well why don't you tell her I refuse to give her the guitar unless she meets with me."
"Can do, Collin. I'll talk to you later."
"You too, Mr.Par- Andrew."
We hung up the phones and I headed over to my small motel fridge. Last night's remnants were still there, as expected. I grabbed the left over and placed them into the small microwave sitting above the fridge. Yum, I thought. Nothing like styrofoam flavoured leftovers. My phone quickly buzzed from the bed.
It was from her.
"Alright asshole, lets meet."
I didn't know what to feel. I herded that she was like this, but so happy to talk to her.
"When and where?" I decided to ask her.
"I'm busy the rest of the week so tonight or Friday."
"Why busy?" I didn't want to end the conversation quickly.
"None of your business." She crudely told me.
"That's no way to talk to someone who holds what you need:p"
"Collin. I left for a reason. Don't drag this on."
"You didn't have to leave." I told her.
"I did."
"You didn't even let me explain. It wasn't what you think. Even Nichole and Natalie believe me."
"I know what I saw. I don't need an explanation."
"Just meet at here at 5:30 okay." She sent along with an address.
I sent another text but she never replied.
Melody
I threw my phone to the wall.
"Why do you have to be like that?!" I screamed.
"Didn't know I was like that." Cole, a writer in the studio told me.
"Not you. Him." I pointed to the phone.
I watched as he walked over and picked it up and read our conversation.
"You two were in love," he told me, "It just...stopped."
"Yeah." I looked to my feet."
"Come on, we're going out." He told me.
"But the song?" I asked.
"We'll come back to it tomorrow." He grabbed the trumpet and told a few of the band players to come along.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"The corner." They told me.
"The corner of the street?" I asked.
"Yep." Cole answered.
"With instruments?"
"Yeah.I have the high-hat."
"Um...okay."
We walked out of the building and onto the street.
"Why did we being the instuments?" I asked.
"We're going to sing at the corner." Cole told me.
"What? No,why?"
"It'll help you relax and you can get some experience performing for a crowd." Dawson, the drummer of my band, told me.
"I don't need experience, besides what am I even going to sing, The Brain said he didn't want any of our songs out until the album was ready."
"How about that song you were singing the other day when you came in?" Asked Cole.
"The Taylor Swift one? I don't know, you guys don't even know the music." I stalled.
"We have phones, you know the lyrics, so were good." Cole stopped and placed the high-hat cymbal next to a fountain and sat on the edge. He took to guitar as the rest of the boys readied their instruments as well.
"So, Shake It Off?" John asked looking up the music on his phone and turning to show it the rest of the boys.
They all turned and nodded in agreement. "Come in when you're ready," Cole looked at me. Dawson tapped us and counted me in.
I started the first line.
"I stay out to late,
Got nothing in my brain,
That's what people saaaay, hm mmm"
The music flowed with all the words my nerves edged as more and more people came to watch. A dancer from the other side of the fountain joined us, she made me relax a bit, she looked a bit familiar. She tried getting me to dance with her, but I couldn't dance like she did, so I made up my own movements, probably lot the best idea. A small circle formed around us. A little girl stepped and copied my dancing and shook along with me. We sang another three songs before the distraction ended. In two hours I'd see Collin again.i hope this relaxation worked.
