"So, your father is Thranduil?" Thorin asked me. His sign was still very sloppy and he messed half of it up. I corrected him, laughing slightly. The Elvin king did have a hard name to sign.

"It would seem so," I replied. "He seems to think I can return the stones to him."

"Nothing in that mountain is his."

"Get over yourself Thorin. If he believes me to be his daughter Mirkwood and Erebor are more closely tied than before. With evil trying to come back into the world we need allies. Why not give him the stones on the conditions of peace and that we are once again allies? War will once again come, we will need each others' help."

"And how does he feel about you being engaged to a dwarf?"

"Don't know, don't care. Stop avoiding the problem, we don't want them as our enemy. We have no use for the gems of starlight. Give it to them, make a peace treaty, bring the people of Dale into the mountain for the winter. We can help them rebuild in the spring and summer." It was far too cold to work outside and there was nothing for them to keep warm, no firewood, no food, very little shelter. The mountain could provide, the elves would bring food if we gave them what they wanted.

I left to go help the others get things ready for winter. Bilbo was still here but I didn't know how much longer he would be. I hoped long enough for the wedding. Some of us were cleaning bedrooms, some of us were cleaning up bodies we found when we tried to escape the mine and burying them, and the rest of us were moving the treasure to the treasure room and out of the throne room.

I helped move treasure since as a dragon I could move very heavy loads. I lost track of time as I worked. Since we had just finished battle about eight hours ago we should probably be resting but there were those who had no warm place to go till summer. We could offer shelter. I worked keeping that in mind.

When I needed some sleep I just curled up somewhere, I didn't know what this room was called but it was warm and quiet with fresh air. I hoped Thorin would listen to what I said. If the elves there were family I would rather have a peaceful relationship than one where I would be put in a position where we were at war with each other.

Thorin's POV

I was thinking about what Falathiel had said, about making the elves our ally. Sure other dwarves would now move into the mountain and once Dale was repaired people would come back, but if war came like we had just won, we would not win without their help. It was true we had no use for the stones the elves valued.

Falathiel seemed to have little interest in them, but maybe that was because she didn't know what they were supposed to mean to an elf. She found them beautiful but took little interest in them as she did the rest of the treasure. I wondered where she had got off to, she usually said what she wanted to then disappeared.

When I found her she was outside a guard room with the company sleeping against her dragon form. Kili had fallen asleep on her face, Biblo was up on her back, Fili was laying on her neck just behind her head. How could some dragons be so evil and others so kind? Most of these dwarves would never go near a dragon unless to kill it, yet here they were sleeping on one.

If Kili became King she would make a good Queen, so kind and passionate. She kind of acted as my queen, making sure that I had a second opinion, challenging me when no one else would, calling me out, thinking of others first. Perhaps she would join the council.

Kili's POV

I woke the next morning to find I had fallen asleep on my one's face. She was still asleep, everyone else was using her for warmth as well. I never thought I would have a dragon as my one. She was an elf shapeshifter than shifted into a dragon and I was a dwarf, our kids would have an unique heritage.
