Chapter 17
As I got ready for my wedding day I couldn't hear the bustling outside as finishing touches were put on everything. Dis and an elf maiden were helping me get ready. I had Kili's braid in my hair with the bead, different braids hold the rest of my hair back. I held the ring I had crafted to give to my future husband. It was made from black gold (not oil) an ore like mineral with an emerald at the center hold the band together.
I was wearing the dress my father gave me. Today Thorin wanted to go through a ceremony that would give me the right to act as queen/princess. As I was marrying a prince and would be in line for the throne he said I needed to go through the crowning ceremony. He told me the area needed someone as kind as me as ruler. I was flattered, he had hated me from the beginning and now he seemed to like me, treat me as a daughter even.
At that moment there was a knocking on my door. "Miss, everything is ready for you." I assumed it was Gilmi, Golin's son.
"Thank you master dwarf," I signed. I was led out and down a corridor that was decorated with flowers and light. At the end of it was Kili, as I walked down the aisle with Dis, the only mother I had ever known Thandruil joined us. I was handed over to Kili and Balin performed the marriage. Kili and I signed our vows to each other, Fili translated for the crowd of dwarves, elves, men, hobbit, skin-changer, and wizard.
We promised to love, cherish, protect, and be true to each other till death do part. After we exchanged rings we kissed and went to the feast before I was to be crowned. I danced with my husband, Fili, Bilbo, the rest of the company, Legolas, Thranduil, Bard, and many other males including Beorn and Gandalf.
Thranduil talked to me as we danced. "You can restore life to this land you know?" Thranduil said. I just gave him a questioning look. "You're the dragon of life. You can breathe life back into the land."
"How?" I asked pushing my voice into his head.
"I don't know, prophecies were written about you and have been for many thousands of years." That was interesting. "You are the one to bring peace back to this area, you have done so already by uniting elves and dwarves again."
Not long after our talk, Thorin pulled me aside, "It's time." I sighed, I didn't exactly what to be a ruler but I would do what I was expected to do. The line of Durin must continue and a ruler was needed. I promised to protect the people, the country and do what was best for all involved as the crown was placed on my head.
My life had changed completely since the start of this journey. I was now respected among the dwarves, I was in line for the throne, I was married, I knew who my birth father was. Everything had changed. I couldn't be happier. I restored the land to its former glory and flew Biblo home and helped him reclaim his possessions and set his home back up before returning to the mountain to continue on with my life. I would have time to spend with my husband now that there was peace, maybe we could continue the family line?
