Jason's pov

We cured them of the darkness. I'm so nervous. I can tell so is my family. They don't trust them. "I wish my adoptive parents were still alive." I whisper, laying beside Miranda in our room. "At least they're together." I force a smile, remembering how heartbroken my mom looked after losing dad. "Yeah. I guess so." I whisper tired. "I wonder how my mom is doing." She whispers. I clear my throat nervous. "I... I was wondering. Did you ever talk to your dad much after I left?" "A little but not really. We weren't very close after the divorce." I remember that day vividly.

~flashback~

Her dad had moved out a week prior when her mom broke the news. That sweet little girl  cried for hours.

Someone knocks on the door. "I'm coming." I say, getting up and opening it. "We have to go. There's a hunter in the area." Andy says, an annoyed look on his face. "Shit. When will it be safe to come back?" He shrugs. "Let's just go." Dad teleports us all to mother and father's house. "We have plenty of room til they die down." Mom says. "I hate humans." Dad says annoyed. Sad to say but I almost agree. It's not like I chose this life. I mean some people did. But I didn't. I hate having to hurt people every week. "These things happen. We should be able to go home in a few days. I've put a charm on the house to make it look deserted to the human eye. And once they see it looks deserted, they'll leave." George says, looking at everyone while he talks. He's a great mentor. I'm so lucky to know him. He taught me everything when I was a terrified 12 year old.

~flashback~

The older man puts a hand on my shoulder. "You're going to be okay. I promise." "B-But I don't wanna hurt folks! What.... How... I can't!" He forces a sad smile. "We all don't want to hurt people. But it's either them or us. And I promise, we make it painless." That day I knew. I actually found a good group of vampires who felt the same way as me. And he kept his promise. When we kill, we make sure it's painless.

~flashback over~

I shudder remembering the times I went dark and hurt people. I know I did. I don't know how many though.

*a few days later*

"We head home tomorrow." George says. I almost want to celebrate! I hug my wife. "I love you baby." She whispers, kissing me. "I love you too." I say happily, holding her in my arms.

*3rd person pov

The two ancient vampires walked into the room. "It's for the best." The father said. His mother sadly nods and places a hand on his son's head, erasing his memories of his parents. A look of fear and discontentment fills the boy's sleeping features. She erases everyone's memories and the father teleports them home.
