"And he spoke to you?" Apollo heard Jace speak, following Alec
"He said my name. He said, 'Your mother for the Cup.'" He heard Clary speak, but saw Alec fasten his pace, obviously not liking the conversation taking place.
"Who said that?" Alec curly interrupted the two, a stern look on his face, which softened slightly when he felt Apollo's warmth radiating onto his arm.
"Valentine. He's with my mother." Apollo's eyes widened at the confession. If Valentine had spoken to her through the necklace, then he could see her. Portal shards are a two way door, unfortunately for Clary.
"And he can speak to you through that necklace? Here, in the Institute?" Alec asked, concern laced in his voice. Concern for everyone in the institute, that Clary, and Jace, had now put in danger.
"It's like when I saw Dot." Apollo facepalmed and Alec turned his head, looking at him with contained anger.
"You knew about this?" Apollo flinched at his tone slightly, then stood straight, taller, with more authority.
"I created that necklace, Alexander. Do not use that tone with me." Apollo simply spoke, no malice or hurt in his voice. He was not about to let Alec know that he had upset him. Alec just turned away, guilt panging at his chest, but he pushed it back.
"It's a Portal shard. That's why your mother made sure you had it." Clary was told by the shadowhunter.
"All I know is what I saw My mother's alive. She's unconscious, but alive." Clary moved to Apollo, and he put his arm around her. He knew she was being ignorant to this world, but he also knew that she had lost her mother and she wasn't thinking very clearly.
"Where are they?" Alec sternly questioned. Apollo rolled his eyes. Alec was mad at him, so he was going to be petty and be mad first.
"I don't know." Clary told him.
"But you said you saw them. Were there any identifying characteristics? Equipment, weapons, photographs?" Jace glared at Alec's insensitivity.
"I don't remember. It was awful." She buried herself either into Apollo's chest.
"Alec, lighten up." Jace tried to get Alec to back off, which gained him a thankful smile from the god, but Alec was too upset to care about anything.
"I'm trying to get something we can use out of this. Clary, what did you see, exactly?" Alec went to grab Clary's wrist but Apollo was faster than the shadowhunter, gripping his wrist, and giving him a death glare.
"I am not above hurting mortals, but don't make me hurt you, Alexander." The shock on Alec's face made Apollo soften, but instead of apologising, he let go of Alec's wrist and stalked off, not bothering to look back at any of the trio he left behind.
Apollo walked around the institute, trying to find a place to cool off, but decidedly couldn't find somewhere suitable. Instead, he decided that he wanted to go closer to home.
