' Not all who wonder are lost '

_______________________________________

I woke up with a groan that's filled with pain and the stiffness in my body, I shakily got myself to sit up before I forced myself to stand after a few minutes of sitting. I lit the candle that sits on the night stand with shaky hands and look through my duffle bag for some food, I decided on a small granola bar not feeling that  hungry along with some more pain killers to ease the painful soreness. After my small breakfast my shaking stopped and decided to explore.

I grabbed the candle, walked out my room and down the hall to the main room. I take the left hall down and all I find is just dark rooms filled with nothing. One of the rooms is so big that's it's one of the darkest room, after awhile I decided to go back to my room.

' I need to go out to town and find a job so I can keep money in my pockets. '

I sighed as I walked into my room, grabbing what ever money I have and pocketed it before I walked back to the main room. As I stand there looking up through the hole at the blue sky, I blow out my candle and put it in my pocket along with the matches. I jumped as high as I can with my arms stretched out and grabbed the edge of the hole, with all my might I pulled myself up through the hole.

I quickly look around seeing no one I sneak around and out of the cemetery without being seen. I began my walk into town.

I look around at the markets that's around the center of town, I saw one that's sales lanterns and candles. I picked the cheapest lantern I've seen and got more candles, the old lady looked up at me surprised to see a young man, I smiled sweetly at her.

"Good morning ma'am."

I politely said to her and she also looked surprised at my manners.

"Good morning dear."

She smiled back as she place the lantern and candles into a bag, she handed me it after I give the money to her.

"You don't look like your from around here son."

I nodded my head.

"I'm not, I'm from America and I wanted to ask if there were any jobs open."

She nod her head back.

"Oh yes yes there is but it's the only job open around here. It's the graveyard shift at the cemetery, down that dirt road."

She pointed, I smiled at her and thanked her.

"Oh it's nothing dear, just be careful "

She called out to me as I head my way back to the cemetery but a store caught my attention, a small store called Lando's bookstore, I walked in to find the store filled to the brim with all kinds of books. I smiled as I look around but jumped when a middle aged man pop out of nowhere.

"Oh sorry that I scared you."

"It's ok"

I answered shyly.

"What you looking for?"

He ask, I lift my shoulders in I don't know manner.

"Just looking around"

"Well what kind of books are you into?"

I smiled at him.

"Victorian era "

He look genuinely surprised, I smiled shyly.

"What can I said, my mother always told me I have an old soul."

I bend the truth a little, he just nodded his head before walking away and after a minute or two he come back with a stack of books.

"How much you want for them"

I asked kindly.

"You can have them for free because I was about to put them into the trash. No one want those kind of books these day's."

My eyes widened in shock.

"Really?"

He just nod as he put them into a big bag and handed them to me, I quickly thanked him before heading out again.

I shortly arrived at the cemetery owners home the one I stolen from yesterday, I placed my bags of books, lantern, candles, some clothes, and food leaving me with little money left, next to my feet. I gentle knocked on the door, waiting for a second or two before the door opened showing a short middle aged man.

"Hello, I'm Park Price and I'm new in town. I was asking around if there was a job open and they said you had one."

He nod.

"Yes I do but people won't have it because it's the graveyard shift."

He said in a thick scottland accent.

"I'll be gladly to take it"

He looked at me suspiciously before noding.

" When can you start?"

" Tonight if you like."

" Ok, meet me here tonight then."

I thanked him before walking away and when I got out of his sight I sneak back into the cemetery and quickly but safely jumped back down the hole.
