"YOU CAN......?"

Rue, alongside Voldemort and another death eater, aparated to a manor where it was silent.

Men and women of all ages were kneeling, facing a raised platform where a tall chair stood.
Rue assumed this is where Voldemort would sit.

She rubbed her arm nervously, as the Voldemort took his place.

"We are gathered here today to welcome this young woman to the Death Eater ways"

Everyone turned to look at their newest member, and Rue's face turned redder than a tomato.

"Do you, Rue Emilia Banks, pledge your pure wizarding blood to, I , the Dark Lord and swear your services to the same?"

"I do"

Her jaw clenched as she realised what she was committing to.
She never wanted it to come to this.

"Now, step forward"

Rue took a step forward, her heart thumping in her chest.
She never wanted to see his face.
She never wanted to switch sides.
But if she wanted to live, it was the only way.

"Hold out your arm"

With a slight glance to her side, she held out a shaky hand, beads of sweat falling down her face.

With a mutter of the spell, pain spread up her arm and around her body.
It was almost as bad as the Cruciatus curse. Almost.
She bit her lip trying to stop herself crying out, but it didn't work.
The pain was too much and she let a scream escape her dry lips.

When the pain finally stopped, she looked down at her arm and saw the Dark Mark, bold and clear on her arm.

"Your one of us now"

"ALICE?!"

"ALICE?!"

They called and they called, but Alice wasn't moving from her spot.
They still hadn't thought to check the tree, and that's where she was.

She wanted to listen to Rue and run, but something didn't feel right.
Something seemed off.
Why on earth would they think to look here?

"ALICE?!"

"ALICE COME OUT!"

Alice felt defeated.
She felt horrible.

Wiping the remaining tears from her face, she began climbing down the tall tree.
Again, it was more like she fell down the tree.

Ron spotted her first and rushed over.
