Allison and Hero reached their destination. It was a ginormous room with a really long table in the middle of it, surrounded by nice chairs with red velvet on their backs. The room's walls were made of stone bricks and spruce planks, and the floor and ceiling were made of white stained clay. Fancy rugs and banners that look like they've been there for eternity decorated the floor and walls, and Christmas lights were hung under the banners. Hero set down the tub of decorations to look at the progress.
Decorations were being set up on tables by dragons with pink and blue tails. But one of them was a human. And her tail was red and orange.
Who might that b- her thoughts were interrupted by her father's words.
"Oh honey, I'm home." His voice echoed through the room, which caused most dragons to look over, but they eventually turned back to what they were doing.
The human with the red and orange tail whipped around to face him, and her face lit up with excitement.
"Hero!" She cried. Her age didn't slow her own one bit. She ran up to him and jumped up into his arms, hugging him tightly. Her blonde hair whipped his face, but Hero didn't care.
They hugged for a moment, until finally she let go and gave him a peck on the cheek.
"Mom...?"
She turned to her right, and saw a figure standing there, about to burst into tears.
"Oh-"
It was Allison. Yet, it wasn't tears of sadness or fear. They were tears of happiness.
"My child." She hugged Allison, and she laid her head on her shoulder, hugging her back. Now that they were close, Allison could see what her mother looked like.
Sparklea was blonde, like she was. She was short, almost the same height as her, but a few inches taller. She had dark gray eyes, filled to the brim with sympathy, but right now they were magenta, the happiest they could ever be.
They spent even longer hugging each other than her and Hero. An even longer eventually Sparklea kissed Allison's forehead and smiled.
"There is so much we need to catch up on." Sparklea said.
In that time, the decorating dragons had finished their tasks and they moved on to decorate the halls and the outside.
They heard the flapping of wings behind them. Angry voices followed. Sparklea looked up, and saw a griffin landing about 25 feet away from her.
Guards were threatening spears at the creature. Other dragons were trying to convince them not to spear the animal.
"Hey!" Sparklea shouted. Her commanding voice reached their ears, and all of the arguing dragons and the griffin stopped in their tracks. "Guards, stand down. Return to your posts. Now."
"As you wish." One of them said reluctantly. The rest of them followed the one who spoke out of the dining hall. He had a platinum plate on his right shoulder, which was what Allison assumed meant he was a commander or general.
"I apologize for their behavior." Sparklea said slowly to the griffin. "I thought they knew about this event."
"I'd assume not. But, apology taken. It's Christmas, after all." The creature said, shaking her small hand with one talon. "Would you like any assistance with the food or decorations? I have a few more coming who may be able to help."
"Hmm." Sparklea thought for a few seconds, until she said, "No, I believe we have everything going as planned. Thank you for your offer, however."
"You're welcome, Your Majesty." The griffin bowed, before finding a few Tiedans he knew. They started chatting, and Sparklea turned back to Allison.
"Sorry, we aren't exactly, friends, with griffins here." She apologized to her.
"Oh. I thought the guards were just doing their job."
"Well, they probably were, but at the same time they probably didn't know that I invited a few of them to join us in this feast. That griffin was one of them. His name is Leo. He's one of the more, friendlier, ones out there."
"Oh."
A moment later, Sparklea said, "Well, I have to finish setting up these decorations, as well as the ones my sister is making. Have you met Speckle yet? She's your aunt."
"Um, yeah, I did."
"Good! How did you find her? Usually she doesn't roam the halls."
Allison and Hero glanced at each other.
"Dad lost his way here." Allison blurted.
"Did not!"
"Did too!"
"Did not!"
"Did too!"
"Did n-""Now now, you're acting like children." Sparklea said.
"But I am a kid." Allison remarked.
"Oh- right."
An awkward moment of silence soon followed.
"Your Majesty?"
Sparklea turned around to see a figure bowing in front of her with his hat to his heart. It was yet another human with the same dragon parts. He had fluffy brown hair and yellow eyes, and was dressed in a tuxedo with a pink bow tie. His hat also had a pink ribbon tied around it.
"Hey, Cobra. What's up?"
"The ceiling." He replied, uncoiling from his bow and putting his hat back on his head.
"Obviously, dude. Whatcha need?"
"Eh, nothing really. Just wanted to see if I could, help with anything." Cobra pretended not to see Allison, but the break in his sentence secretly told you otherwise.
"Hmm... Nope, don't think we need anything else."
"Ok, that's fine."
Sparklea stood there, thinking for another moment. She glanced up at Cobra in his tux.
"Hmm. You know what, Hero?"
"Yes?"
"Maybe you should change to something nicer. This isn't a casual event."
"Oh, alright. I'll go back home and change, then."
"Oh, no, you don't have to. We have some clothes here for you. Cobra, do you mind showing them the Wardrobe?"
"Not at all." He said smoothly. "Come."
"Wait, are accessories allowed?" Hero said quickly, pointing to his santa hat on top of his head.
"Yes, of course. And, you look silly with it on." Sparklea replied, stifling a laugh.
"Haha, very funny. Cmon, let's go, Allison."
Sparklea waved goodbye for a few seconds, before turning around to look at the tub of decorations they brought. There were some Christmas tree lights, a few ornaments, and some light up angels.
She rummaged through the tub, trying to see if there was anything else that she didn't see. Why did I send Cobra, out of all dragons? Sigh, I hope he doesn't embarrass himself around her.
