Chapter 8: "Dinner Date Invitation"

Noelle and Susie entered the school despite the rather harsh criticism. Noelle was still pretty upset about all of this mess but Susie tried her best to reassure her. When Susie opened the door all the chatter stopped. The whole class looked at both girls, some started to whisper, others stared. "What the hell are you all looking at?" Susie snarled showing her sharp, yellow tinted teeth. The few people who dared to stare, looked away and the class grew quiet. "Go sit down Elle." Susie said nodding towards her seat and walking closely behind the girl, making sure no one tried anything. After Nolle got to her seat Susie slumped in her own. "O-Okay... Is everyone settled?" Alphys started as usual.

For the rest of the day things went smoothly, Noelle and Susie sat together at lunch and no one messed with Noelle while Susie was around. For forth period all the students headed back to class and to their lockers but Susie stopped Noelle in the hallway. "Hey, Noelle I gotta use the bathroom. You gonna be okay alone?" Noelle chuckled and blushed a bit. She never knew Susie could be so caring and protective, she really liked it honestly. "Yes, I'm sure I'll be fine." Susie smirked and cupped Noelle's cheek giving her a kiss on the nose before walking down the hallway to the restroom. Noelle blushed and smiled, her head filled with thoughts of her girlfriend. She opened her locker, nothing unusual. It only got unusual when she looked around her open locker door to see Berdly looking straight at her. Noelle rolled her eyes. "What do you want?" Noelle said getting her books organized. "Look, I just wanted to apologize Elle..." Berdly said sympathetically. "First of all, don't call me Elle, second, why would I accept your apology? You tormented Susie and I when we did absolutely nothing wrong." Berdly shook his head and held his wing. "Yeah... I was afraid you would say that... But I swear..! I'm a whole new person!" Berdly smiled and took Noelle books. "H-Here let me help you with that.." Noelle was confused on why he was being so nice, but she appreciated it. "Umm, Thank you?" Berdly nodded and grunted. "S-So, wanna get to class?" He said as he smiled at her. "Sure.. You can just take my books to class I'm waiting for Susie." Berdly nodded and headed to the classroom. Noelle sighed and thought for a moment. Was Berdly actually trying to change? This was all really short notice but she still tried to find the good in people. It was her nature to forgive anyways. "Phew, alright back." Susie said straightening up her jacket. "Good!" Noelle cheered as she held Susie's hand. "No one tried to piss you off did they?" Susie nudged. Noelle just giggled and shook her head. "No, but-" She stoped and thought about telling Susie about Berdly. 'If he is really trying to change I need to give him a chance.. and knowing Susie she won't like that idea.' "But what?" Susie asked. Noelle just returned a shrug. "Oh well, forgot what I was gonna say.." Noelle nervously chuckled but she could sense Susie could see right through her weak lie. "Oh, alright." Susie said bleakly. When they entered the room Noelle found her books stacked neatly on her desk. 'Would you look at that..'

Class was over in a heartbeat and soon Noelle was packing up her books. She then got up and walked over to Susie's desk. By now the whole class had practically darted out, even Miss Alphys gathered her things rather quickly, leaving just Noelle and a sleeping Susie. Noelle thought that she was so peaceful when she was asleep. Noelle decided to leave Susie be to repay her for waking her up that morning. She sat down in the seat next to her and started to do her and Susie's homework, as she knew Susie wasn't planning on doing it. Suddenly she heard footsteps and the door open. "Oh! Noelle, your still here?" The person at the door was Berdly of course. "Oh, hey Berdly! Yeah just doing homework." He nodded and sat down next to her. "I was just coming to find my binder.. Have you see it?" Noelle shook her head. "No, I don't think so." He shrugged. "It's alright, I wanted to talk with you anyways." Noelle's ears perked up. "O-Okay?" Berdly stood up and walked outside the room with Noelle. "So.. What did you wanna talk about?" Berdly Smiles. "Well, I was wondering if you where free tomorrow and maybe I could... Take you to Q'V's!" Noelle nervously chuckled and slightly blushed. "Umh.. S-Sure!" "Oh that's great! What time?" Nolle shrugged. "Right after school? As long as Susie can come with.." Berdly's smile faded. "Well, I'd prefer if you could come... alone?" Noelle was a bit disappointed about his preference. "Susie has to be with me.. No offense.. but she could protect me better.. I-In case anything were to happen.." Berdly sighed and grumbled to himself "Ah, well she can come.." Noelle smiled and hugged him. "Oh! Thank you!" Berdly grinned and chuckled. "No problem! See ya?" Noelle nodded and smiled at him. "Yeah, see ya!" She turned around and started walking back to the class room to way up Susie. When she went in Susie was awake and looking at the homework Noelle had done. "Impressive." Susie said slipping the papers into her book bag. "Hah, Thanks.." She sat down in front of Susie and took a breath. "Hey, could I ask you something..?" Susie looked up at her from stuffing the paper in her bag. "Mmh?" "Okay.. Would it be alright with you if Berdly, me and you go went to Q'V's tomorrow?" Noelle nervously awaited her response and Susie just looked at her. "Uh, no." Susie said getting up and throwing the bag over her shoulder. "Please! It's fine! We'll just ignore all the mean people!" Susie groaned and started walking out of the room. Noelle followed her closely. "I said no. You saw how the town reacted. EVERYONE knows. I don't want you getting hurt." Noelle tugged on Susie jacket a bit. "Please.. it would be nice to have real food for a change.." Susie rolled her eyes under her hair. "Fine." Susie said a little upset. She knew very well that Noelle was a kind soul and forgives easily, but this was a big thing and she wasn't sure about it.. "Thanks!" Noelle said wrapping her arms around Susie, embracing her. "Uh.. No problem.."
