the proposal

After months of planning, Lucie's birthday party had finally arrived. It was her 24th birthday and everyone had flown out to come a see her.

Rose and Zendaya came from California, Gabbie and Harrison from London and her mom and siblings from Riverdale.

She'd been in Paris for a few weeks so hadn't been able to catch up with them, and thought having a summer birthday party would be the perfect time to.

Tom had gone out and bought BBQ food and had set up the bedrooms for everyone.

Harrison, Gabbie and Tom went into the city for some extra gifts for Lucie whilst she was setting everything else up.

However, Tom actually had a different reason to go into the city. He had decided that he was going to propose that night at the party.

This was an idea he'd had ever since he'd met Lucie all those years ago. But he knew Lucie wanted to settle into the new house before planning a big wedding.

It did seem a little late notice to buy a ring but he wanted to have Rose and Gabbie help him. Annoyingly, Rose's flight wasn't landing until the evening so he just took Gabbie and Harrison.

The couple began to browse around the mall but Tom made a straight walk to the Tiffany section.

He looked around until he saw a beautiful classic cut diamond on a silver band with smaller diamonds along it that he'd also seen online.

Gabbie and Harrison followed behind him and saw what he was looking at.

"Oh my god Tom!" Gabbie exclaimed.
"Are you serious?" Harrison choked, shocked.
"Yes. You guys know I've wanted to marry her since I met her, so why not? I've spoken to Elena and I have her permission" He smiled at them.

They shuffled around him in joint hug and Gabbie squealed as he showed her the ring he'd picked.

"It's perfect Tom!" Gabbie smiled.

Harrison asked over a worker and they packaged up the ring and placed it in the signature baby blue bag. Tom paid and they drove back to the party.

When they got home, Lucie had placed all the plates and cutlery out on tables her mom had made salads and her siblings were setting up the drinks table. Harrison and Tom went straight to the BBQ and began cooking the meat and talking to Davey.

"Luce, when's Rose and Deya gonna be here?" Gabbie asked.
"Any minute now" She replied.

"So mija, how's being 24 treating you?" Her mom asked.
"It's been great, I'm so happy to be with all of my best friends and family" She smiled.

Suddenly they were all interrupted by the sound of the doorbell ringing.
Lucie rushed through the hallway to go and greet her guests. Gabbie quickly pulled Elena to the side and brought her into the back yard.

"Come on Elena, you need to see the ring!" Gabbie exclaimed.
"I'm so excited for her! When Tom told me I knew he'd pick a beautiful one" Elena smiled as she walked towards Tom at the end of the back yard.

"Tom, show Elena the ring!" Gabbie whispered.
"Okay, quick come into the summer house so nobody sees" Tom replied taking Elena to the summer house, beaming.
