     "Riles?"

I look up from my phone and find her eyes. "Hey."

She looks confused, but then she smiles. "I'm sorry for coming over all drunk and stuff."

     "It's okay, Maya."

     "My head hurts so much."

"Here, I'll get you some more water."

     "Thank you," she quietly says.

I take the empty glass from the nightstand and go down to the kitchen to fill it up. I walk back into the room and don't see her. Right when I was going to look around for her, she walks out of the bathroom, rubbing her eyes. She sits on the bed and I give her the cup.

"Are we okay now?" I ask, sitting next to her.

She smiles and grabs my hand. "Yeah, we're okay."

     "Listen, I didn't mean to-"

"Let's not talk about it, okay? I just want it to be in the past."

I nod and gently squeeze her hand. "I missed you a lot."

     "I missed you more."

I feel my cheeks heat up and I shift my gaze.

"How long was I asleep?" she asks. I check my phone and it's 6 PM.

"Um, like an hour or two."

"You stayed here the whole time?"

     "Yeah," I quietly say.

She smiles and throws her arms around me, nuzzling her head onto my shoulder.

She pulls away and groans. "Oh my god, I probably said the most embarrassing things, didn't I? I'm sorry."

I laugh and think back to what she said earlier. "It's okay, it was kind of amusing."

"I'm hungry," she says. "Let's go down."

We walk into the kitchen and she looks through the fridge, groaning. "There's nothing good."

She walks over to the pantry and takes out a box of madeleines.

"Do you have an endless supply of those?"

She takes a bite and mumbles with her mouth full. "Hell yeah."

I take one and bite into it. "They're not as bad as I remember."

"They're not bad at all," she corrects. "They're literally sent from heaven."

I roll my eyes and think about what she said earlier.

     I love you.

     "Hey, Maya?"

She looks at me and tilts her head.

     "Uh, nevermind."

     "You sure?"

I nod and kiss her cheek. When I pull away, she bites her lip and pulls me closer. "Can I kiss you?"

I cup her chin and place my lips onto her's. I missed that feeling so much. Her warm, soft lips on mine felt perfect and made me forget about everything around us.

We hear the front door open and quickly pull away from each other.

     "Mom?" she calls out.
