While you had obviously settled on going to Church, Courfeyrac ended up getting so concerned that he decided to rush you to the nearest café— and while it wasn't Le Café Musain, it was... certainly enough.

He ended up resting you on a table. Was it comfortable? Certainly not— but he definitely tried. He pushed a couple more together so you could lay down properly.

"I'm not going into labor or anything," you said, chuckling a little as Courfeyrac pushed aside whatever was resting on the table. "Calm down... you're acting like my mother."

You paused for a moment...

You had hit your own nerve, and you didn't even know it.

"I'm not going to argue with you there... but do know that it's because I would rather not have your feet to fall off," he said, his lips breaking into a smile as he thought for a moment. He was quick to take off his coat and rest them on your legs, keeping an eye on you in case you tried kicking it off. He turned to Gavroche after a moment.

"I'm going to go find Joly," he said. "Would you mind watching her for a moment?"

Gavroche smiled.

"I won't mind," he said, his eyes flicking back to you. "If you doesn't mind, that is. I'm sometimes not really good company."

"Oh, hush Gavroche," Courfeyrac said. "Everybody loves you."

Gavroche blushed modestly, and Courfeyrac ruffled his hair before hedging toward the door. It was easy to feel the sudden rush of cold air hit you once the door open, but Gavroche was quick to look at you and smile a bit.

"Does you want anything to eat? I can grab it, if you'd like..." he asked.

You were about to say that you would be alright, but he was quick to smile again.

"Actually, I'll just grab something for you now."

Gavroche gave your head a sweet little pat (a gesture that Courfeyrac had done for him time and time again) before disappearing into the kitchen, a humming softly he did so.

You took that opportunity to sit up.

You didn't exactly understand why you were told to lay down in the first place, since you weren't exactly being operated on, but you only realized that just now.

This bought you some time to think.

As you stared in front of you, your gaze locked on a wordy poster (that you were too zoned out to read what it said), you found yourself thinking.

You were snapped out of whatever thought that was when Gavroche reemerged from the corner of your eye.

You glanced over in his direction.

His coat was twice as large around him as it should have been, and as he waddled out of the kitchen, you watched as a piece of bread fell from his back. He seemed quite flustered as he turned back to pick it up, and when he had, he waddled twice as fast while pulling his coat closer to him.

You noticed that he was chewing quite a large amount of food.

Wordlessly, once he had made it to the table, he opened his coat and let everything fall out— bread, fruit, and whatever else he could find in there (that wouldn't stain his clothing).
