If the players return to town and to the tavern Ruth will find them and invite them in for this side quest

She is normal her house is a badly lit affair with several large comfortable beds that she offers to the party

ENTER THE DREAM SCAPE SEQUENCE

Roll a d20 for one of four outcomes for each player in their dreams their dreaming of having to role play throughout their
1 PERSONALITY TRAIT
2 IDEAL
3 BOND
4 FLAW

They must defeat these inner demons without any help and their combat will be highly variable based on how they set up their character.  They win receiving an instant level up (at this point they should be at least level 3 if not 4 ) then they all wake collectively to 2d 4 mindflayers standing around a pentagram and mumbling . The players may prepare if they sneak and retrieve armor and weapons until the distracted flayers have their pentagram which had RUTH in it explodes in a bloody fountain and they turn to face you with the now summoned form of a massive mind flayer possessed chuul that rips up the room and is followed by the flayers into the street through the wall as the players follow their noticed and battle is joined. Should the players kill the chuul the front of the tavern is blown upends by a massive psychic thought bomb as LOYD BALESON steps out and enters combat in full mindflayer form armed with his spells and weapons  weakened from their fight thus far this should be a struggle for the entire party. Victory will mean survival the town square area is quite large almost 50/50 so it's plenty of room for combat but spread out a bit and try to use cover and improvised cover encourage any type of ingenuity from your players with advantage or with inspiration just mostly because you know they will need it looking at the buffed stats of baleson and the chuul not to mention the flayers
