dear heartache,
welcome home.
you have been gone so long,
I thought you'd forgotten me
your absence felt very wrong
I feared you'd lost your key
my bones were getting strong,
the chill in them having set free
but you are back where you belong
and like last time, don't you dare flee...
hope kept me up all this while
sleep had taken off to a faraway land
innocent joy coated my every smile
dreams flew above castles of sand
desires whispered it was worthwhile
but I forgot time wouldn't understand...
rejection came sweet and slow
a pinprick at first, a red bloom in view
pushing deep into the heart hello
the knife found it hard to pass through
disbelief had stopped it from reaching below
where the soul was unprepared too
for the deafening roar of heartbreak,
and the weeping sounds it'd make...
dear heartache,
welcome home.
you are here to stay.
promise me, you will never go away,
for time is never kind,
to this heart that turns blind,
by night, by morn,
at the sight
of a glittering smile...
