Morning arrived much too early in Percy's opinion. He woke up alone like every morning, and sighed. A note was wrote next to him this morning, though.
Percy,
I'm going be gone for a few days. Be careful and don't leave. There's plenty of food, make sure you eat. I'm sorry I couldn't warn you, it just came up to myself as well. I'll miss you, though.
-Apollo
He's finally leaving you, the voice told him. He's finally realized that he doesn't love you. This was all just some cold joke.
Percy felt as his eyes welled up, he knew the voice could be telling the truth. Apollo was a God, after all. He would die someday, but Apollo would continue living. There was no reason Apollo would want to stay with him.
He said he would though, the voice continued. But he lied. Some God of Truth he is. Oh, well, it was only a matter of time.
"Shut up!" Percy yelled.
You know you'd be lost without me. Percy could practically hear the being of the voice shrug. I have no reason to lie to you.
A knock on the door broke Percy from his thoughts. He didn't want to answer it, but what if it was something from Apollo? Slowly, he made his way over to the door. He stood in shock at the person who was there.
Annabeth Chase. Tattered clothes. Chopped hair filled with leaves and sticks. She was sweating. And it seemed like she had just gotten attacked. Her breath was heavy as she looked at Percy with pleading eyes.
"Percy," she let out quietly. "Please. Something is after me and I'm not sure which way camp is."
She's lying. The voice said. Percy tuned it out, too encased in his childhood friend standing in front of him. She's hurt you. Don't let her in.
"Come in," Percy invited, moving aside. Annabeth weakly stepped in, following Percy to the sofa. "What happened?"
"I realized I was jealous," Annabeth said quietly. "I was jealous that Apollo has always had his eye on you. Even though we dated there for a while, I knew it would never work out. Everyone knew how Apollo felt about you, and no one in their right mind would deny a God what he wants. I guess I just thought that if you hated yourself, then Apollo would too. Therefore we could be together. It wasn't until Apollo took you away that I realized how wrong I was. I'm so sorry, Percy."
She's lying. Again, Percy tuned out the voice.
"Why didn't you come sooner?" Percy asked after a second.
"I wanted to lift the curse Apollo had put on me," she admitted. "I figured it would be more sincere in actual phrases rather than poetry."
"How did you lift the curse?"
"I had a daughter of Hecate and a son of Apollo help me." Percy only nodded, unsure of what to say. Annabeth sighed and continued again. "I know you probably can't forgive me, but can we at least start over again?"
Don't do it, the voice warned.
"I'm not fully forgiving you, but I do believe people deserve second chances." His words had been but they had been enough for a smile to appear on Annabeth's face.
"Thank you, Percy."
This is why I call you an idiot.
Ooh look at me updating like a good author. Also, is it just me or does Wattpad run a lot slower since it was updated.
