Just as described, the food was delicious. The burger thick and juicy, with a meat patty that seemed to literally melt in Susan's mouth. The fries were crispy and golden, still steaming hot and sprinkled with salt. Watching Sans eating his food was quite amusing too. He never opened his mouth, yet as if by magic the food would be gone.
Taking the ketchup bottle to his mouth now had Susan looking at him with a horridly disgusted face. "You drink ketchup?" A cheeky grin displayed on his face as he nodded, taking a good swig of the condiment. "You gotta 'Mustard' up the courage to do it like me." Susan about choked on the last bit of her food due to the pun. Whipping what spilled on her face away.
Grillby, meanwhile had taken it upon himself to stick around and clean the counter and what little dishes there were; the eatery wasn't packed, due to the week long storm that rolled in, but keeping his facility clean and spotless showed he cared alot about it. Plus, he didn't have anything else to do but listen in on all the conversations going on.
"So kid tell me. You seem to be a book of mysteries, and I'm dying to read ya." Grillby had just taken their empty plates away at this point. Susan turning round in her chair and leaning on the counter, "Do you really wanna hear my sap story?" She huffed, half amused at Sans interest in her surface life.
He gave a shrug and another chug of his 'drink', "Well you're kinda stuck down here, we don't have a clear way to get to the surface...and I know everyone that there is to know down here." He points a bone finger up, "some bits I wish I didn't know."
Tilting her head back and closing her eyes, Susan complied. She didn't want to think of the life up top, but if some monster wanted to know what it was like up there, might as well come from someone who'd been up there all her life. "Well, the fact that you don't have a clear path to get me back up there makes me a tad happier." She clears her throat as she continues, "It's a shit show up there. Scrapping whatever you can to get by and then some to keep, it's not the easiest thing to do in a city overpopulated."
"I was found in an alleyway about five years ago. I don't remember what happened to be honest, but I did hear people talking about a gang of some sort, killing a few humans for some unknown reasons. Some say it was all street gang related, some say it was a bunch of drugged thugs, you hear rumors from all sorts. Well, I was found there; bloody but alive, and with a concoction." She motions the spot where her past injury was, feeling the top of her head. "Wasn't pretty from what I hear, my head was in wraps for about four weeks. I didn't know how to talk or understand people either, so that wasn't the best either. The authorities, er well people who found me, paid to get me classes on how to speak and become more socially appropriate." She grins as she remembers, "I hated every single second of those classes. Teacher was a prick. Anyways." She sits up a bit more in the stool, "I didn't know any family members and no one would come claim me. So I was settled in the nearest orphanage. A place to stay and also work. I guess people thought I may have had a troubled past, so getting to know how to care for small kids would help brighten my life or some bullshit like that."
Susan gives a slow huff, "That's all I really remember. I cared for all the kids, they liked me alot but some seemed to fear me. Got really protective of a few of them, and some did the same for me. No life, no family, no memory. No explanation for the strange things that I'd do; waking up in a cold sweat talking about 'hands with holes', hearing voices during the day as if I was hearing someone invisible trying to talk to me. Even the point where I've seen bodies on the ground...never could recognize them, might of been the bodies that were found alongside me." Susan looks over to the more deep in thought Skelebro now, "That's all I got, I guess. Sad and short."
