'I think we're mates,' he said making me confused as ever and being the awkward potato I am, I blushed at the thought of it. It's not like I had any feelings for Yangyang or anything, it's just that I'm not used to all this boy stuff.

'W-what makes you think that?' I asked curiously. He scratched the back of his neck and responded,'Well, you can't really fall for anyone other than your mate and I guess I've-,' he cut himself off and chuckled shyly, 'I've fallen for you,' he said quietly making my blush. I had no idea what to say.

'O-oh,' I also chuckled shyly but I was confused. Why didn't I feel anything towards him?

'Um, w-what happens now?' I asked even though I knew very well that we're supposed to be a couple now. 'I guess, we date?' he said, laughing after. Probably out of embarrassment.

'Oh, so...should we start now?' I asked also letting out a small chuckle after. Yangyang looked at me and grabbed my hand before nodding. I smiled at him hoping that soon I will soon fall for my mate but something felt...wrong. I ignored the doubt in my heart and tried to be happy.

Time Skip

We were off holiday and back at school. Yangyang and I had started dating but we didn't think about announcing it to anyone, we were going to wait until they found out themselves.

One thing that scared me sometimes was the fact that I didn't really feel the love I was supposed to towards Yangyang. I just felt attracted to him because we were mates so I acted like the girlfriend I was meant to be but didn't have any strong feelings. Why was this?

I told myself I liked Yangyang and believed I did but I didn't love him which is something I realised later on.

Jisung's POV

School. 'Why did the holidays have to end?' I thought but then regretted it. Another thought ran through my head which reminded me that it was good the holidays ended. I was glad they ended because in the holidays was when I was the most upset.

Yangyang and Y/N started dating and I found out.

Why was I upset though? Well, I don't know myself but when I found out it felt like a part of my chest had made a hole. I felt empty for some reason which I didn't understand.

Out of the hyungs, I am one of the talkative ones but then, I became more reserved. Quieter. A bit more...quiet.

They asked about my behaviour, I just told them I must be maturing and joked about it, reassuring them that I was fine. But I was though! I was just quieter and more observant.

I soon found out that this wasn't good.

The more I observed, the more my eyes followed Y/N. I mean, she was in my class, so I got to but I didn't like it. The more I watched how her hair fell over her shoulders and the way her slender fingers touched her textbook, the more I felt attracted to her. Which was wrong.

She has a mate...what was I doing? How could I be starting to like her when she's already set with her mate?? The moment I knew I had fallen for her fully was when I was hanging out with the boys and her and she smiled. Woah.

She always smiled but why did it only hit me at that moment? Then I realised she that was smiling up at Yangyang, which made me sad, or even jealous. I didn't want to admit it to myself but deep down I was jealous.

I became so confused about my feelings. You can't fall for anyone but your mate, so how was I falling for Y/N??

It was a Friday when I had enough of my confusion and went home to find answers. I sat on my soft bed and opened up the old dusty book my father had given me.

I looked up stuff about mates. Is it possible for someone to have 2 mates? What if you fall for something who already has a mate? After ages of searching, right when I was about to close the book, I found something.

It was a story from ages ago. I decided to read it, desperate to find an answer.

"A long time ago, when vampires weren't that good at controlling their thirst, they had turned a lot of humans by accident. We all know when you turn a human, a vampire of the opposite gender must die. It was usually male vampires who had turned humans so they had to kill female vampires. The most famous human-turner was John Akeldama, from the old lands of Britain. His last name meaning 'field of blood'. He had turned many humans and because of his manhood, a female vampire had to die. To kill so many female vampires, he had travelled to different countries and pretended to be their mate before backstabbing them. In today's era, it's not really common for a vampire to turn a human so this betrayal isn't that common anymore but still might exist."

I sat back with my mouth open. It was shocking that some vampires could actually be that evil and betray others. Was this what Yangyang was doing with Y/N?

I denied it. Yangyang couldn't be that evil, right?

I sighed. It was the most reasonable thing I found so far. The only legitimate answer because if it was true it meant Y/N was my mate and Yangyang was playing with her and that he had turned a human into a vampire.

What if it was Samuel? I knew the Samuel is not a pure vampire and now what if Yangyang was trying to kill Y/N because of him?

I shook my head. It seemed so reasonable but I couldn't believe it. I slapped the book shut and decided to sleep.

It couldn't be true,

could it?
